starts as early as 5:00 a.m. saturday. and with the extreme cold goes through 8:00 a.m. on tuesday. another long lasting thing here, the snow not amounting to a whole lot, a coating of two inches. but slippery on untreated surfaces because the roads are so cold and dangerous. subzero wind chills as we head toward new year s eve and new year s day. timing s just not very good. nothing on the radar close by. we do have a significant area of snow coming through the midwest, hitting the chicago area right now. it s a fast moving clipper system. it has limited potential, but there it is covering much of the area, even by 5:00 a.m. some of the western suburbs. by 8:00 a.m., covering most of us and lasting for several hours through the midday hours, possibly even into early afternoon in some spots. not accumulating a whole lot, but we re talking about slippery conditions. a coating to two inches. it s the fluffy kind of snow that would be blowing around in the wind. after that ....
