one woman was hurt t to save her belongings. there's no word on how that fire started. it is a cold and bluster monday night. this is a live look at the flag whipping around on top of the buildings in center city. at times this evening we saw wind gusts topping 40 miles per hour. the winds are to blame for power outages across the region. more than 15,000 utility company customers spent part of christmas without electricity on this cold day. most happened in bucks and montgomery county. the start of a cold week. so let's get the latest on the weather in your neighborhood. meteorologist glenn schwartz is here with the forecast. a lot of people get ready to head back to work in the morning. >> like you said with e hope they got winter coats for christmas. this is just the beginning. this is nothing compared to what's coming this week and the following woke. we got up to 61 on saturday. 43 sunday. 40 today. that was mostly just after midnight. and then look at by wednesday the high is only 25 degrees. right now it's 30. in philadelphia. we're in the mid-20s. and we have wind of course making it feel like it's in the teens. 13 redding. 15 allen town. 16 in pots town. and it's going to be feeling like this all night. and much of the day tomorrow. temperatures mostly in the 20s during the day. it's going to be feeling like it is in the teens. but the frigid air is moving in and it's going to stay with us for the better part of the next ten days. and we'll tell you just when the coldest is coming in. and when we're likely to see snow. coming up. >> all right. thanks. tonight instead of sitting home by the fire, some people had to work. including these folks. and for some, ice skating. brandon hudson is braving the elements for us tonight. live at the river rink. >> movement in layers were the keys to keeping warm. it was parked until is closed an hour ago. there was ice skating and dancing. anything to keep the blood pumping. >> reporr: mar mashmallows roasting. while this couple cozied up to the fl gathering down here. >> her family rented a river rink cabin to celebrate the holiday. the best seat in the house was by the fireplace. brother, sisters, kids and grandparents packed bundled and surrounded by gifts. >> we're keeping warm down here. >> reporter: in south physically. eagles fans covered almost every inch of their body before walking in for the game. >> you buy everything insulated. >> reporter: we saw people layered up in china town too. it looked like any other monday. crowds on the sidewalk sdp traffic. across the river in cherry hill appetites. live in pens landing. >> thank you. not everyone who tried to fly out of the town made it to their destination today. several flights were cancelled. hy.t of them headed towards the a white christmas for much of new england. connecticut today the snow kept plow drivers busy. and didn't stop these runners from taking part in a charity 5 k. and white christmas is an under statement in it may not get this warm for another ten days. even during the middle of the day. let alone at night. 30 philadelphia. we have 20s in the suburbs. we have wind as well. and so at the airport it feels like it's 18 degrees. right now. 19 in graduate hospital. again you're going to be longing r se numbers. coming up. so here's the 30 in philly. 19 pittsburg. 11 in detroit. lock at that, 6 below in green bay. temperature not windchill. 21 below in minnesota. temperature. not windchill. same story up here. canada. 40 below. it's coldest air of the season and it's going to be here for a while. we have wind coming out of the west. 10 to 15 miles per hour. by tomorrow morning, it's going to feel like single digits. teens elsewhere. this is as warm as it's going to feel all day tomorrow. 23 philly. wednesday morning, feeling like single digits. wednesday afternoon, in some places feeling like single digits still. west chester. seven in allen town. and then, thursday morning, feeling like it's close to zero. three in philly. 0 west chester. two below in doil town. and thursday after feeling like the teens. you get the message here?
