TRACK & FIELD TEAMS DOMINATE AT TEXAS, NORTH FLORIDA

Florida State’s track & field teams competed at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday and at the University of Texas for the first day of their two-day meet.

FSU’s men made the 200 meter field at the Texas Invitational look more like the Seminole Invite led by Amir Willis who won with a time of 20.25, which is among the Top 10 best times in FSU history.  Right on his heels was teammate Ismael Kone in second place with a time of 20.37.  More garnet and gold led the sprint with Denzell Feagin clocked at 20.58 in a fourth place finish and Taylor Banks took seventh with a time of 20.81.

The Seminoles dominated the only other event in which they were entered in Austin with Jeremiah Davis winning the men’s long jump with a leap of 8.02 meters.  Jayden Rollins finished 12th with a top leap of 7.03 meters.

Noles End Regular Season at Nuttycombe Invite

Results Crimson Classic | Results Nuttycombe Invite    Madison, Wisc.    –  Known as the most competitive and toughest race in the regular season, the NR/No. 24 Florida State cross country teams closed out the 2022 regular season at the Nuttycombe Invitational, which was held on Friday at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin. The 24th-ranked women’s team stepped to the line for the 6k race alongside 35 other teams.  FSU was one of the 28 squads carrying a national ranking or receiving votes. In a field of 263 runners, the Seminoles were aggressive at the start as three runners went out with the lead pack. Alyson Churchill paced the Noles, crossing the finish line in 51st with a time of 20:33.0, which was her personal best. Emmy Van den Berg followed in 83rd at 20:46.9 ahead of Agnes McTighe (20:57.5) in 111st. Career Bests Power Noles at FSU Invite

Results Tallahassee, Fla.   –  The Florida State cross country teams competed in the sole home meet of the season on Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park. Racing in ideal conditions, the Noles certainly excelled on their home course as nine scoring runners logged personal best collegiate times. The men took second place, scoring 87 points in the 8K, led by redshirt junior Matthew Newland in seventh place. His time of 24:34.9 was a personal best along with Anderson Ball (24:46.7), Coleman Cronk (24:58.6), and Wynne Thomas (25:04.1). Ball finished next in 14th followed by Colby Otero in 18th, Cronk in 21st, Thomas in 27th, and Matthew Owens in 59th (25:42.4). “I was really pleased with the guys,” said head coach Bob Braman said.  “Several of these guys have a chance to be on our ACC team, so we looked at this race as a hard effort and we trained through it and ran hard. Most of the guys ran personal bests on tired legs. Our depth is even better than we thought it would be.� ....

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior Adriaan Wildschutt brought home his first career victory as a Seminole, as the Florida State men’s cross country team finished third in a very tight, top-heavy field at the FSU XC Last Chance meet.
On a picturesque Friday morning at the Apalachee Regional Park, the Seminoles had two runners in the top five and four in the top 15, completing the race with a total of 49 points ahead of Temple (117) and South Florida (153). RV Syracuse (31) took home the team title ahead of No. 17 Michigan (42).
“If today was a regional meet, we would be through to nationals after that performance,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “We ran really well. We didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone, ....
