Four Noles Earn Academic All-District

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    –  Four members of the Florida State track and field and cross country teams were selected to the 2023 Academic All-District Teams for NCAA Division I on Wednesday. Cooper Schroeder was named to the men’s team, while Alyson Churchill, Caisa-Marie Lindfors, and Agnes McTighe were named to the women’s. The honor recognizes the top student-athletes in the country for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom and is given by the College Sports Communicatiors. All four Noles are eligible for the CSC Academic All-America ballot where first, second, and third teams will be announced on June 28-29.

15 SEMINOLES NAMED TO ALL-ACC WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ACADEMIC TEAM

The ACC released the 2023 All-ACC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Academic team on Tuesday and 15 Florida State student-athletes were named to the team which requires a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must have competed in the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships and/or the NCAA Indoor Championships during the most recent season. FSU’s top performers from the Academic Team include senior Faith Banks who broke the facility record in the women’s 400-meter with the third-best time (52.88) in FSU history in the prelims and Amani Heaven who was runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 16.54 meters. Also posting a top-five finish at the ACC Championship and making the Academic Team was Alexandra Websters who was third in the 60-meter hurdle with a time of 8.26. FLORIDA STATE MEN FINISH SECOND, WOMEN SIXTH AT THE 2023 ACC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Florida State’s men’s indoor track and field team finished second and the women sixth at the 2023 ACC Indoor Championships that finished Saturday in Louisville, Ky.  Jeremiah Davis’ wins in both the men’s long and triple jump led the team’s performances over the three-day meet. “Our men competed really well,” FSU Head Coach Bob Braman said.  “We scored a few more points than last year at the ACC Indoors where we also finished as runner-up. “A year ago, we followed this meet with a 50-point win at the ACC Outdoor Championships which is an ACC record.  Let’s hope history repeats itself.” Davis set a facility record in winning the men’s triple jump with a leap of 16.36 meters, passing a pair of All-Americans to do so.  Xavion Lockwood was also outstanding finishing fifth with a leap of 15.49 meters which is over a foot further than his previous best.  Kyvon Tatham’s best jump of 13.52 meters was good for 14th place. Noles Place 16 on XC All-ACC Academic Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    –  A total of 16 student-athletes representing the Florida State cross country teams captured All-ACC Academic Team honors on Thursday. The Seminoles had nine women recognized, which tied for the league lead along with NC State and Virginia, while the men had the second-highest total at seven along with Duke, Pitt, and Georgia Tech. “This is just fantastic!” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “Our women led the ACC in All-Academic honors and the men had the second most. I’m really proud that our student-athletes make academics a priority.”

Noles Set for NCAA XC Championships

Live Timing | ESPNU | Championship Page  TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    – The No.26 Florida State women’s cross country team is set to race in the 2022 NCAA Championships on Saturday at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla. Live timing will be available, and coverage will begin at 10 a.m., on ESPNU. The women’s 6k will start at 10:20 a.m., and Fearghal Curtin will compete in the men’s 10k at 11:10 a.m. The Seminoles punched their fifth-straight ticket to nationals after securing the second automatic qualifying spot out of the South Region on Nov. 11.  Led by three all-region performances, FSU finished second at the NCAA South Region Championships with a total of 88 points. Emmy Van den Berg led the way, finishing in sixth place (19:47.70) followed by Alyson Churchill (19.59.70) in 11th and Agnes McTighe in 14th (20:02.80).
