Noles Place 16 on XC All-ACC Academic Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    –  A total of 16 student-athletes representing the Florida State cross country teams captured All-ACC Academic Team honors on Thursday. The Seminoles had nine women recognized, which tied for the league lead along with NC State and Virginia, while the men had the second-highest total at seven along with Duke, Pitt, and Georgia Tech. “This is just fantastic!” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “Our women led the ACC in All-Academic honors and the men had the second most. I’m really proud that our student-athletes make academics a priority.”

Results Crimson Classic | Results Nuttycombe Invite    Madison, Wisc.    –  Known as the most competitive and toughest race in the regular season, the NR/No. 24 Florida State cross country teams closed out the 2022 regular season at the Nuttycombe Invitational, which was held on Friday at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin. The 24th-ranked women’s team stepped to the line for the 6k race alongside 35 other teams.  FSU was one of the 28 squads carrying a national ranking or receiving votes. In a field of 263 runners, the Seminoles were aggressive at the start as three runners went out with the lead pack. Alyson Churchill paced the Noles, crossing the finish line in 51st with a time of 20:33.0, which was her personal best. Emmy Van den Berg followed in 83rd at 20:46.9 ahead of Agnes McTighe (20:57.5) in 111st. Results NOTRE DAME, Ind.   – The RV/RV Florida State cross country teams competed at the historical Joe Piane Invitational on Friday morning at the Notre Dame Golf Course. Running in ideal conditions, the women’s team finished in fifth place with a total of 175 points, just behind four top 10 teams that included No. 1 NC State (55), No. 3 New Mexico (68), No. 10 Alabama (70) and No. 8 Notre Dame (146). The Seminoles finished ahead of No. 27 Oregon State (256) and every other team that received votes in the week three USTFCCCA poll. “The ladies absolutely showed up to compete today,” FSU women’s distance coach Baylee Mires said. “To place fifth at this meet with so many top contenders in the country is an incredible place to be. Noles Sweep Vols in Boone

Results Boone, N.C. – The RV/RV Florida State cross country teams swept NR/No.29 Tennessee in a dual meet on Friday at the State Farm Fields. The women’s team led off the dual shortly after sunrise with temperatures in the low 50’s, racing the 4-mile course. FSU turned in the top three times, led by Alyson Churchill who crossed the line first with a time of 21:58.00 ahead of Emmy Van den Berg in second (22:03.06) and Agnes McTighe in third (22:06.82). Rebecca Pottorff followed in sixth place at 22:15.92 and Yasmine Abbes rounded out the scoring in eighth at 22:19.10.  Caitlyn Wilkins (22.25.90) and Rebecca Bergnes (22:38.32) were included in FSU’s top seven, placing ninth and 10th respectively.
