4 5 km black topped road opens in Karbi Anglong

Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 6 (EMN): More than 2500 population of Karbi Anglong are now relaxed as the all-weather road construction of Taralangso-1 to Sarthe Senar village via Langmili village has finally completed under the leadership of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang. Ward No.11 Ward Commissioner, Sagar Chetry, said this on construction of the much needed roads connecting the said villages. Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Chetry said that because of poor road conditions, the residents of the villages were suffering especially the school students, daily wage earners, local vegetable vendors, etc. during rainy seasons. There are four government schools and three polling stations with around 2500 voters in the Langmili area and consisting of around 25 villages. The length of the road is 4.5 km, beginning from behind Diphu Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) and ending at Sarthe Senar village under the Diphu PWD Road division.

Diphu Municipal Board wins fast-moving city award

Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 5 (EMN): The Diphu Municipal Board (DMB) has been awarded Swachh City Award-2022 for achieving the tag of fast-moving city in the Northeast zone population category between 5, 00,000 to 10,00,000 from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on October 1. The award was handed over by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu; Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Sing Puri and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore. The award was received by the DMC team led by Chairman Rah Kro; DMC executive engineer, Nippun Charan  Dutta; Pradip Rongpi assistant executive engineer; and Ward Commissioner Sagar Chetry.   The award includes a certificate and a replica of Mahatma Gandhi. KAAC holds supplementary budget session - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Diphu, Sep.30 (EMN): Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) held a supplementary budget session on Friday relating to payment of outstanding liabilities under Primary Education department, PWD and Works department. Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, who placed the supplementary budget under various heads of accounts, said the original grant of budgetary allocation for the administration of justices for setting up of village courts as per the Mikir Hills Autonomous District (Administration of Justice) Rules 1954, was INR 167 lakh, but an additional amount of INR 335.20 lakh is required to meet the expenses.
