Kati Bihu celebration cum awareness on agriculture held in Karbi Anglong

Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 18 (EMN): The Kati Bihu and Agriculture Awareness Campaign Committee of the Agriculture department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)  organised a Kati Bihu celebration cum  awareness campaign at Manja Kheroni on Tuesday. Participating in the programme, MLA of Howraghat, Dorsing Ronghang told the farmers that the government of Assam is procuring paddy directly from farmers. Ronghang said, “Never before has the government procured paddy from farmers. Farmers have to sell their paddy at a low price at market.  But now the Assam government has introduced a scheme called Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board (State Agency) for procurement of paddy from farmers.” The Assam government is procuring per quintal paddy for INR 2400 from farmers where money is transferred through bank account of the farmers, the MLA said.   Ronghang also said it is the farmers who need more paddy. KAAC holds supplementary budget session - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Diphu, Sep.30 (EMN): Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) held a supplementary budget session on Friday relating to payment of outstanding liabilities under Primary Education department, PWD and Works department. Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, who placed the supplementary budget under various heads of accounts, said the original grant of budgetary allocation for the administration of justices for setting up of village courts as per the Mikir Hills Autonomous District (Administration of Justice) Rules 1954, was INR 167 lakh, but an additional amount of INR 335.20 lakh is required to meet the expenses. Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 10 (EMN): Supporters of All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) and Congress of Langmili under Lumbajong MAC constituency have joined the BJP in a joining programme organised at Langmili playground on Wednesday. Party sources said 306 supporters from APHLC and Congress merged with the BJP. KAAC election: Voting held; violence, poll ragging reported

Our Correspondent Diphu, June 8 (EMN): Voting for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), one of the 6th Scheduled Autonomous Council in Assam was held on Wednesday as 7,03,298 voters of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong exercised their franchise to elect their new Member of Autonomous Council (MAC). The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, after casting his vote said that out of 26 seats, BJP will win 24, while two seats will be won by independent candidates.
