CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior defender Megan Bornkamp was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for the second consecutive season by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday. The announcement comes after Bornkamp was named a Defender to Watch by United Soccer Coaches and was voted to the Preseason All-ACC Team by league head coaches.The two-time All American ended the 2022 campaign with two assists and four total points, as the Mooresville, N.C. native has tallied 51 career points as a Tiger. Bornkamp and the No. 25 Tigers open their season tonight, Aug. 17, at Historic Riggs Field against South Carolina. CLEMSON, S.C. - Seventy student-athletes and 36 students in support roles and spirit squads are set to earn degrees during Clemson University’s Commencement ceremonies on May 11-12, 2023. The ceremonies are set to take place in Littlejohn Coliseum. This includes 91 individuals earning undergraduate degrees and 15 earning master’s degrees. Clemson also honored 17 students with anticipated graduation in August at a luncheon on May 10. Of the 130 total students being recognized, 101 are earning bachelor’s degrees, 22 are earning master’s degrees and seven are earning graduate certificates. Those being recognized hail from 21 different states, nine countries, 38 majors across all seven of Clemson’s colleges, and 16 first-generation college graduates. The student-athletes come from 14 athletic programs, headlined by Giano Roberts, the 2023 National Champion in the 60m hurdles. CLEMSON, S.C. - Junior defender Megan Bornkamp and Hensley Hancuff, former Tiger goalkeeper, have been named to the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team Roster as they are set to compete against France's U-23 Women's National Team, US Soccer announced Thursday. The 20-player roster consists of eight professionals and 12 collegiate players. Bornkamp, a two-time All American, three-time All Atlantic Region, three-time All ACC recipient and United Soccer Coaches Division I Women’s Player of Distinction Award winner looks to provide the U.S. depth and experience on the defensive end alongside some of the country's best. Hancuff was an integral part of the Tigers' success during her campaign in Clemson. She helped lead the Tigers to two NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Eight Eight run in her junior season. CLEMSON, S.C. - Senior midfielder Hal Hershfelt and junior defender Megan Bornkamp have earned All-Atlantic Region honors following their incredible effort during the 2022-23 season, United Soccer Coaches announced. Hershfelt and Bornkamp both earn their third All Region honor and are two of the 45 names among the Atlantic Region’s First, Second and Third teams. All-Atlantic First Team Bornkamp registers her third career All Region honor, being named to the first team in all three seasons she has worn the orange and regalia. She anchored the Clemson defense all season long from the center-back position and led the Tigers to eight shutouts. She registered a goal against Louisville and two assists against Western Carolina and played and started in all but one match.
