CLEMSON, S.C. – In its second ACC match of the season, the Clemson women’s soccer team (7-2, 2-0 ACC) came back from down one to capture a 2-1 win over NC State (4-4-2, 0-2 ACC) on Thursday night at Dail Soccer Field. NC State attacked early as the Wolfpack netted a goal in just the eighth minute of the first half to gain the early lead. Clemson began picking up the offensive pressure on the Wolfpack in the latter third of the first half as Renee Lyles drew a foul in the penalty box in the 38th minute. Sophomore Megan Bornkamp successfully converted on the penalty kick to tie the score at one a piece heading into the second half. The Tigers and Wolfpack battled to score the game winning goal throughout the second half until Renee Guion laid in a beautiful ball to Caroline Conti, who assisted Renee Lyles in the 85th minute to solidify the Tiger win. CLEMSON, S.C. – In its first ACC match of the season, the Clemson women’s soccer team (6-2, 1-0 ACC) capitalized on opportunities and played consistent defense all match long to solidify a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh (7-2, 0-1 ACC) on Thursday night at Historic Riggs Field. Junior Hal Hershfelt scored the first goal for the Tigers in the 17th minute. This was the third match in a row that Hershfelt has scored the first goal for Clemson, and this one came off a give and go from Makenna Morris, registering her fourth assist of the season. The stout Tiger defense held the Panthers to only three shots in the first half and only one shot on goal, which was defended by goalkeeper Hensley Hancuff.
