To dream the impossible dream.
What would it take for New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman to go full Don Quixote and start tilting at windmills? In this case, just substitute windmills with trade rumors blowing in the breeze about the future of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers, the three-time NFL MVP wants out of Green Bay, and though the Giants seem set at quarterback with Daniel Jones, you can never say never. At least, that’s what ESPN thought when it ranked seven “realistic suitors” for a Rodgers trade, with the Giants listed at No. 4:

Rodgers’ displeasure dates back to the 2020 NFL Draft, when the Packers used their first-round pick on his heir apparent, Jordan Love.
Following that move, all Rodgers did was go out last season and win his third NFL MVP award. And as far as Bradshaw is concerned, Rodgers has nothing to complain about, based on what the Pittsburgh Steelers legend told WFAN on Monday:

The NFL Draft is over, and so the two major offseason events that and free agency have come and gone, and the Giants roster looks wildly different.
This, clearly, is a team dead-set on getting over the hump, improving on their 6-10 record and making it back to the playoffs for the second time in a decade. There are still some major question marks, certainly, starting with Daniel Jones and the offensive line.

The talk of this Giants draft is all about general manager
in the deal that saw the Giants drop nine spots in Round 1. This team is still rebuilding and Gettleman is under pressure, so give him credit for thinking long-term and seeing the bigger picture. If the bottom falls out for Chicago in 2021 you never know in the NFL because of injuries this could be one of the deals of the draft.

Even in a good draft year, it’s rare for an NFL team to play all of its rookies. Mathematically speaking, most draft picks don’t play a significant role in their first year.
The Giants drafted 10 players last year. Remarkably, nine of them made the 53-man roster after training camp, and eight of them played either significant or important snaps at some point in the season.
