While the NFL was focused on Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft on Saturday in Cleveland, the league’s MVP was 350 miles to the south for the Kentucky Derby.
“He didn’t want to talk on camera. I can tell you, I characterize Aaron as disappointed that news has come out of this rift with the Packers. He expressed a couple of times how much he loves Green Bay, loves the fans, loves the franchise. There is a fissure, there is a chasm between management and the reigning NFL MVP. We’re just not sure how this is going to play out.”

This time, Gettleman said: “You explore everything”.
That’s not exactly a full denial of the possibility that the Giants would explore a deal for either Rodgers or Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who is also supposedly unhappy with his situation.
When pressed for more, Gettleman said: “I won’t entertain hypotheticals.”

The Giants added six players in the NFL Draft, and all of a sudden they’re in a roster crunch. At least, if they intend on adding more than a couple undrafted free agents.
The Giants are currently at 88 players on their roster, just two below the maximum 90. It is likely that they’ll cut some players soon to clear out roster space to add some UDFAs, though they don’t necessarily need as large of a UDFA class as in past years.

The Giants knew going into the NFL Draft that they had a need for pass rushers on defense. The problem: This class didn’t have any prospects graded by most evaluators as worth of the 11th pick, where the Giants originally were selecting in the first round. They passed on picking one after they traded back to No. 20.
They remained patient, and ultimately drafted a player many had projected as their first-round pick all the way at 50th overall in the second round.
