The deep depression will continue to move north-northeastwards at a speed of 17 kmph and is expected to make landfall between Khepupara and Mongla in Bangladesh on Saturday morning, the IMD said.
The rain God has been very generous for Northeast India for the last week or so. We expect on-and-off light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spoils to continue over most parts of Northeast India.
Tripura and Mizoram along with Meghalaya will be the ones seeing the most rain in the next few days, for about one week. No damaging effect expected but continuous rains may give rise to landslides etc. due to the terrain.
Thus, all the regions in Northeast India barring Arunachal Pradesh are in excess category at present due to persistent rains. In fact, rainy week is expected for Northeast India. In the beginning, rains may become scattered between March 24 and 26, while rains will be moderate by March 27 and continue thereafter.
Further, around March 24 to 26, rains will be shrinking over the state of Arunachal Pradesh. All these pockets for now are in the deficit category between 75 and 95 percent for the month of March so far.
