Northeastern states of the country to witness a rainy week

The rain God has been very generous for Northeast India for the last week or so. We expect on-and-off light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spoils to continue over most parts of Northeast India.

Tripura and Mizoram along with Meghalaya will be the ones seeing the most rain in the next few days, for about one week. No damaging effect expected but continuous rains may give rise to landslides etc. due to the terrain.

Northeast India to see a rainy week ahead

Thus, all the regions in Northeast India barring Arunachal Pradesh are in excess category at present due to persistent rains. In fact, rainy week is expected for Northeast India. In the beginning, rains may become scattered between March 24 and 26, while rains will be moderate by March 27 and continue thereafter.

Rain activities to intensify over East and Northeast India

Pre monsoon activities are going on over almost entire country since last 2 to 3 days. Parts of Odisha, Jharkhand and isolated pockets of West Bengal have received good rain during last 24 to 48 hours. However, Bihar and Jharkhand as well as eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh have not witnessed any significant rainfall.

Further, around March 24 to 26, rains will be shrinking over the state of Arunachal Pradesh. All these pockets for now are in the deficit category between 75 and 95 percent for the month of March so far.
