CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson senior All-American Jacob Bridgeman continued his record setting play with a second-round 63 Monday afternoon and is in second place after 36 holes at the Valspar Collegiate at The Floridian in Palm City, Fla.Bridgeman and his Clemson teammates are tied for ninth as a team after 36 holes with a 565 score. Pepperdine, ranked 10th in the nation, had a strong day and stands at 28-under-par 540 after two rounds. The defending National Champions are 14 shots ahead of sixth ranked Arizona State and 16 ahead of fourth ranked North Carolina, the highest ranked team in the field. CLEMSON, S.C. Jacob Bridgeman will lead the Clemson Tigers into the Valspar Invitational on Monday. The Tigers are one of 12 ACC and SEC teams slated to competed in the two-day 54-hole tournament to be held at The Floridian in Palm City, Fla. The list of teams includes Clemson, Wake Forest, LSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M and many other prominent teams from the southeast. The Tigers are coming off the team’s first victory of the year at the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst #2, then a fourth-place finish at the Linger Longer Invitational, a field that included 17 of the top 100 players in the nation. This tournament also attracts a national field, as the winner will receive an invitation to the 2023 Valspar Invitational tournament on the PGA Tour. Clemson senior Jacob Bridgeman made four birdies in his final five holes on Tuesday to finish with a five-under-par 67 and win medalist honors at the Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Ga. Bridgeman concluded the 54-hole, three-day event with a 16-under-par score of 200 on the Great Waters Course at the Reynolds Lake Oconee.Bridgeman became the first golfer in Clemson history to record three consecutive rounds in the same tournament with scores of 67 or better on a par 72 course.Clemson shot a final round team score of 283 and finished fourth in the strong field that included seven schools from the ACC and the SEC. Georgia won the tournament by four shots over Vanderbilt with an 836 score. Florida finished third at 850 and the Tigers were fourth at 852. Jacob Bridgeman chipped in for an eagle on the 18th hole to finish with a five-under-par score of 67 and is tied for the lead after the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Ga.Clemson is in eighth place at four-over par 292 (+4) after 18 holes. Vanderbilt has the team lead with a 279 score for the first round, while Georgia is second at 280, eight-under-par. Florida is third at 284 and North Carolina is fourth at 286.Bridgeman is tied for first with Fred Biondi of Florida, Ben Van Wyk of Georgia and N.J. Botha of Toledo.
