And ultimately he caused this multicar crash that happened on southbound 880 near highway 237 here in milpitas. Just one lane remains closed for the investigation and the cleanup. This crash happened just before 5 00 this morning when the driver of that dark green minivan was spotted going north in the southbound lanes of 880 and ultimately the minivan slammed into four other cars. The man driving that van, again, was rushed to the hospital with major injuries and ultimately he died from those injuries. One person in another car involved in this crash was treated for minor injuries, according to the chp. And now the chp is trying to figure out why this wrongway driver got on to the freeway going in the opposite direction. Investigators are telling us that it did not take long before he collided with those other cars. We had two calls very close together within a matter of minutes.
