Live, from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. Homeowners staring down disaster as the rocky fire rages out of control. Good evening, im juliette goodrich. And im brian hackney. The rocky fire in lake county has grown to nearly the size of San Francisco. It is 27,000 acres. More than 42 square miles and it is 5 contained. 50 buildings have gone up in flames. Half of them homes. Thousands more are threatened. A triple digit temperature, very low humidity. Winds that are helping push this fire through really steep and difficult access type terrain. For some homeowners it is too late for help. Kpix5s andria borba spoke with one woman who lost everything. Reporter as you drive along Morgan Valley road, the blackened hillside becomes overwhelming. There are so many people down there whose houses are just ashes. And everyone we know that lives down there, they have nothing anymore. It is crazy. Camera has a lot of people talking this afternoon. Kpix 5s cate cauguiran spoke to police who tell us their side of the story. Reporter this video has been viewed tens of thousands of times you can see San Francisco Police Officers holding down a man Near Civic Center plaza. Oh my god. What are you doing . Reporter the woman who recorded the video says its what officer it went 30 minutes and claimed this was police harassment. We checked in with San Francisco police and officers say they didnt take him down but that the man fell. He was waving sticks around. And the 911 caller was concerned for the persons safety as well as the safety of others. Reporter the man had one prosthetic leg and claimed the sticks were his crutches. But police say they were in fact sticks but couldnt show them to us. He ran into traffic. And said he did not care whether or not he was going to be hit by a car. Emergency officials are letting a fire at a Chemical Plant in crosby, texas damaged by harvey burn out on its own. The plant lost refrigeration yesterday that caused several explosions. The owners believe there will be more. The epa believes theres no serious danger but evacuated the area as a precaution. In houston rescue efforts continue as crews go door to door.
