Originally meant to ease traffic congestion from Madiwala to Ejipura and bridge the two points enhancing connectivity, the project now seems only to be a half-done reality, causing more inconvenience due to the debris and construction material that has piled up over the years. The work, which began mid-March, is expected to be completed in 15 months, said a senior official in charge of infrastructure projects in the city
According to Namma Bengaluru Foundation, the property owners may face increased tax burdens, particularly if the guidance values are higher than the current property assessments. It said that this sudden change could be financially burdensome for residents, especially those on fixed incomes.

Among the zones that needed fewer toilets are Bengaluru West and Dasarahalli. The BBMP has allocated only Rs 499.80 lakh for the construction of new toilets and improving the existing toilets. The BBMP has allocated Rs 824.66 lakh for Bengaluru East and Yelahanka Zones and Rs 826.67 lakh for Mahadevapura Zone.

Emphasising the need to address garbage woes scientifically, he said that municipalities and the government penalise people for throwing garbage or waste on the road. “I am of the opinion that dumping waste in an open ground or place by municipalities is also a crime. The sanitary landfills can be used for plantation after these landfills are full,’’ he further added.
