Bangalore Mirror published a story – “Lake goes to waste…” on August 1, narrating how Srigandhada Kaval Lake has been reduced to a mere bowl of water as gyms, walking paths, and an amphitheatre take over. It also explained how the lake’s size has been reduced from 6.20 acres to four acres.

Microchip for strays: Plan finally dropped?

Bangalore Mirror published a story – A chip over its shoulder – on October 7 narrating how the plan of using microchips needs Rs 6 crore as there are around three lakh stray dogs in the city. Many animal and social activists termed the BBMP’s plan as nothing but a waste of tax-payers’ money. They also expressed concern over the health of stray dogs after microchips are inserted under their skin.

Contractors protest: All projects to come to a halt

The Karnataka Contractors’ association announced the decision to stop all work until all dues are paid. “We are stopping all work from today. We have halted work due to dues pending from BBMP. BBMP has to pay nearly Rs 2,700 crore and has not made any payment in the last 26 months,” said President of Karnataka Contractor Association, Manjunath.
