The court asked the BBMP, Bengaluru city police and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to enforce the rules and regulations on the LED board advertisements and prevent their installation on roadsides. The Bengaluru Residents’ Welfare Association has written to the BBMP commissioner requesting to take action against the digital signages.
Gandhi Bazaar, the old business district in Bengaluru, hosts a slew of restraints and other commercial work. Until now, residents have had to bear the brunt of the urban mobility project under which the pedestrianisation project was envisaged. While DULT has dropped the pedestrianisation project, residents say that the new drain vents cause a stinking smell in the area.
They stressed on widening service roads especially those next to construction sites. In addition, efforts must be made to identify and develop alternative routes to bypass construction zones.
