The fire and emergency services personnel at Nagarabhavi fire station on the Jnanabharathi Campus are bombarded with phone calls from residents of the respective areas where garbage is being set on fire.
Among the zones that needed fewer toilets are Bengaluru West and Dasarahalli. The BBMP has allocated only Rs 499.80 lakh for the construction of new toilets and improving the existing toilets. The BBMP has allocated Rs 824.66 lakh for Bengaluru East and Yelahanka Zones and Rs 826.67 lakh for Mahadevapura Zone.
“We are planning to dispose of abandoned portraits by segregating wooden frames, glass and photo paper. We want the temple management to keep one or two drums to store broken ones. We are planning to visit such temples once a month to dispose of such photos and portraits,’’ said Shobha Bhat of Usire Foundation.
