It’s asking for non-farm use for the relocation of the skateboard park on a portion of 3743 Old Okanagan Highway in the Agricultural Land Reserve. It would see the existing facility rebuilt at the nearby location as part of the overall site development for the new City Hall/Library Building. Victoria has revealed the communities that will benefit from $30 million in small-scale infrastructure projects throughout BC. Locally, West Kelowna will receive 442-thousand to replace the 21-year-old ammonia chiller in the ice-making plant at the Jim Lind Arena and Royal LePage Place. And the Lake Country Art Gallery Society will get 40-grand for facility upgrades. ....
Feb 24, 2021 12:05 AM Russ Byth Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 559 cases of Covid-19 in BC yesterday, which included 43 in Interior Health. There were no new cases at KGH. Since the beginning of the outbreak there have been almost 78-thousand cases in the province. About 56-hundred vaccines were administered yesterday to bring the total to almost 225-thousand. The people authorized to give vaccinations has also been expanded to include pharmacists, dentists, midwives and other health technicians. Canada’s chief public health officer says results from covid vaccinations so far are encouraging enough that she thinks the need for massive lockdowns could be over before the end of summer. But Dr. Theresa Tam says some of the more personal measures, like wearing masks and limiting close contact outside our households, may be with us for a while. She says anything resembling a normal life will depend on new variants and how quickly vaccines are injected. ....

It includes improvements to the path between the two washrooms to make it smoother, wider and more accessible. In addition, the shoreline along Hot Sands beach will be stabilized with logs to prevent further erosion. Residents can give feedback here Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 1,344 new cases of covid-19 in BC over the weekend. There were 234 in Interior Health. She said there were an additional 26 deaths from the virus… 3 of them in I-H. Dr. Henry said the province will be receiving no vaccines from Pfizer or Moderna this week and there is a limited supply of about 30-thousand right now. Because of that, second doses will be delayed to day-42, so more vulnerable people can get their first vaccination. ....

Jan 20, 2021 12:05 AM Russ Byth Almost two years ago, two cases of bananas arrived at grocery stores in Kelowna and West Kelowna. The unusual thing was that packed with the bananas, were 21 bricks of cocaine. The RCMP has since determined that the drugs were not destined for the Okanagan, but arrived here as a result of a missed pickup at some point along the way. Experts estimate that once cut with other agents, it would have produced upwards of 800-thousand doses of crack cocaine. Another update from Interior Health about the covid-19 situation at Big White. They identified 28 additional cases, bringing the total to 203 since the cluster was declared, showing there is still transmission between members of the community. I-H is also reminding everyone not to stigmatize or judge others who seek testing or test positive for COVID-19. ....
