Student Ranger Program Back For A 4th Year

Young adults interested in working outdoors this summer and playing a key role in environmental stewardship can apply now for the BC Parks Student Ranger Program.
Project Co-ordinator Stephanie Govier said the program offers hands-on work experience through a variety of projects.
“It provides young adults in British Columbia and across Canada the opportunity to work in parks and protected areas. We have them working in 12 crews throughout the Province and they work in our 4 main program areas of recreation, conservation, public outreach, and Indigenous relations.” ....

Almost two years ago, two cases of bananas arrived at grocery stores in Kelowna and West Kelowna. The unusual thing was that packed with the bananas, were 21 bricks of cocaine. The RCMP has since determined that the drugs were not destined for the Okanagan, but arrived here as a result of a missed pickup at some point along the way. Experts estimate that once cut with other agents, it would have produced upwards of 800-thousand doses of crack cocaine.
Another update from Interior Health about the covid-19 situation at Big White. They identified 28 additional cases, bringing the total to 203 since the cluster was declared, showing there is still transmission between members of the community. I-H is also reminding everyone not to stigmatize or judge others who seek testing or test positive for COVID-19. ....
