The Cape Henlopen Vikings will take part in the Delaware State Championships this Friday and Saturday at Dover High School.
The following is a preview of the Vikings who are in the top eight athletes in the state in each event:

LEWES, Del.- With the wind whipping and the rain falling, the Cape Henlopen Vikings defeated Sussex Academy 17-10 to move to 10-1 on the year, 10-0 against in state opponents. The loss drops the Seahawks to 9-1, their first loss of the season.
Winds were gusting up to 21 miles an hour and the rain was beginning to fall as game time came around. The 9-1 Cape Henlopen Vikings were hosting Sussex Academy, who came into the afternoon as the number one ranked team in the state at 9-0 (websites4sports). The Seahawks came out firing, taking a 2-1 lead early in the first half. The rain began to slow and thats where the Vikings started to pick up steam. Cape went on a 4-1 run to take a 5-3 lead prompting a SAS timeout. DOVER, Del- In a repeat of the past two girls Henlopen championship games, the Cape Henlopen Vikings avenged last seasons loss to Woodbridge with the 37-36 victory. On the boys side, the Smyrna Eagles got their second Henlopen title since 2018 with the 59-53 win over Seaford.

Cape winter track teams win tri-meet

The Cape Henlopen Vikings hosted their first tri-meet of the winter track season at Legends Stadium Feb. 24 against the Senators of Dover and the Eagles of Smyrna.
The meet attracted the best weather of the season with clear skies and temperatures in the high 50s. We saw some good performances from all three teams.
“It was good just to finally have a nice track day and see the kids finally put together some good performances,” said Cape girls’ assistant coach Gilbert Maull. “All three teams have some good-looking athletes who are going to score well at next week’s state championship meet.” ....

Montana Jones wins the 55 meters in 8.10.
The Cape Henlopen Vikings hosted the Riders of Caesar Rodney in winter track & field action held outside at Legends Stadium in cold and windy conditions Feb. 16. The Vikings easily won both meets, with the boys’ score 88-20 and the girls’ score 98-8.
“The boys are coming along, and for the conditions, they ran well,” said coach Ellis Gaulden.
The Cape boys were led by Ryan Baker and Barritt Ross with 9.25 points each, as they each won an event, grabbed a second place and ran on a winning relay. ....
