Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the pipe-laying work to reach the 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi has been completed.
Rescue workers have drilled through the 60-metre stretch of rubble of the collapsed Silkyara tunnel. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel are expected to enter the steel chute pushed into the drilled passage and bring out the workers one-by-one.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Principal Secretary P K Mishra and Uttarakhand Chief Secretary S S Sandhu will visit Silkyara on Monday to review the rescue operation.
The operation to rescue the trapped workers in Uttarakhand s collapsed tunnel has faced delays due to broken auger drill blades. However, the process of removing the parts of the auger has been completed, and the drilling and pushing work will now begin.
