BSNL has lost 18 million subscribers alone in the fiscal year 2024. The latest industry data collated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) shows that the telecom PSU lost nearly 2.3 million subscribers, limiting its user base to just 88.06 million in March 2024. By contrast, both Jio and Airtel gained. Third-ranked Vi is the only telco after BSNL that is struggling to arrest subscriber churn.
GX Group plans to establish a new Rs 100-crore manufacturing facility in India to export FTTH equipment globally, supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This will be their second plant, following a 2021 Haryana unit. The new facility will produce Wi-Fi routers and GPON equipment for Indian and international markets, including Europe and Africa.
BSNL: The telecom PSU’s expenses fell 2.5% to Rs 26,683 crore. Of this, employee cost increased 4.4% year-over-year to Rs 8,034 crore. Notably, employee cost accounts for 31.1% of the total expenses and 43% of the operating revenue of the telco.
