The Jefferson City track and field teams return 11 state qualifiers from last year’s boys and girls team and are looking to take another leap this year. The Jays and Lady Jays will take that first step at 4 p.m. today when they open the season in a triangular with Helias and Rolla at Adkins Stadium.
Eight medals and two runner-up finishes concluded the final day of the Class 4 track and field state championships at Adkins Stadium for the Jefferson City Jays and Lady Jays. It was an impressive day from the young Lady Jays on Saturday.
Tommy Roehl picked up all-state honors to lead the Jefferson City track and field team on Day 1 of the Class 4 state track and field championships at Adkins Stadium.
In addition, two Jefferson City individuals and three relay teams advanced out of their preliminaries to today’s finals.
After making the switch from Class 5 from to Class 4, the Jefferson City track and field team is looking to compete in the state meet and maybe bring home a state title.
The Jefferson City Jays trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half, but they battled back to beat the Battle Spartans 64-62 in overtime Tuesday in a Central Missouri Activities Conference matchup at Fleming Fieldhouse.
