Thats right, cue the beach boys. California surfing and of course its mavericks. Its been a couple years since they had this. Since 2014. We have the worlds best big wave surfers. And these are live pictures. I could watch this all day. The contest was delayed a little because of fog and wind but around 8 30, things got going. Alex is out at Half Moon Bay where the surfers are stoked. Reporter they are, happy to be back after a twoyear high featous. 2014 was the last year they were out here. We have a lot of fans here on the shore and taking in all the action. This is one of many viewing parties because there is no safe spot to see the competition play out in the water. So people get in front of the big screenings here at Mavericks Surf Company and taking in all the action here. Lets show you the scene out there about a half mile out, 24 of the worlds best surfers here ....
Lets start with the weather and traffic this morning. Fog is back. The minute i hit oakland, i drove right through it. Wasnt there earlier. It came back quick. So we have some fog, not just inland but the coast and bay variety as well. Little unusual for february but its there. Another beautiful sunrise, patchy fog and high clouds. Little cooler coast and bay, inland temps still in the upper 60s to 70s. 6 52 a. M. , calm and clear, ill buy that. Fog back in the mix, some of that really thick. The end of the month is looking like it could be very wet, so enjoy this nice weather. Doesnt look like its going to last. 43 boulder creek, santa cruz 48, san josi 52. Partly cloudy skies and cooler at the coast and bay with the fog, and a hint of the on shore breeze. Not as warm as it was earlier in the week. Sal, i didnt know it was a holiday for some but you mentioned that. It is for some, lincolns birthday. Alameda county offices are closed and some others have been chiming in, so the traffic ....
Dozens of people showed up at Frances Beach in Half Moon Bay to witness the huge waves. There was some debris on the shore and, despite potential danger, some people told us they couldn’t pass up the opportunity. ....
