Reporter at the scene you see they are trying to get the area cleaned up. Debris was spread out over six lanes of traffic. Theyre mopping it up. Theyre trying to get everything in order before they let cars go through. They closed ten chailanes total. Six that go through the main toll plaza and two fasttrack lanes only and two bus lanes. The driver of this rented box truck slammed into a line of cars at the bay bridge toll plaza after 5 00 a. M. Saturday, then hit the booth and killed the caltrans worker inside who was collecting money. Hit that very last car in line and then kind of caused a chain reaction. Reporter five other cars were badly damaged. Heres one being towed from the scene. Several people had to be rushed to the hospital including the driver of the truck, 32yearold daniel burke, from foster city. He was arrested on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. Just minutes after she started her history yesterday morning, a suspected drunk driver crashed into her booth. The State Capitol lowered its flag to halfstaff in her honor. Our forecast. A lot of people woke up to rain drops on their windows. We did get a rain storm, a very slight one last night. We are seeing snow in the lake tahoe area, a few inches expected for high elevations across some of the resorts. They are happy about that. The storm was expected to stay closer to the oregon border but overnight it did drop down into the San Francisco area bringing barely much measurable rain but just enough to wet the roads a little bit.
