high wind. nbc sharon is live in the north bay where most of the power outages happened and bob redell is where a tree came down. first, we start with meteorologist kari hal. we have seen high wind gusts the past 24 hours. a live look outside. i want to take you to the mountains where winds have been gusting up to 89 miles per hour where we measured late last night. we have also had high wind gusts in the sierra. looking from alpine meadows, a live view, we measured 94-mile-per-hour gust in the sierra. temperature is only 34 degrees with relative humidity at 11%. so these high winds going along with this critically dry air is a reason why we still had this high fire danger as the wind advisory will be expiring here soon. looking at the rest of the bay area, we have seen our wind gusts maxing out at 40 miles per hour in santa rosa. concord 31. 31 in san francisco and 57 in oakland so a lot of trees down and a lot to clean up today and we will continue to track those winds. i
kari, you have had sky ranger to look out for and track downed power lines. it looks like it s over off the shoulder there right around high street, coming up in through the oakland hills where highway 13 got a wind advisory from chp. we ll watch for the traffic moving smoothly. at least part of a tree down inside this freeway. outside the bay bridge toll plaza in the east bay and the oakland area metering lights turned on earlier than necessary because of the volume. i think they re keeping folks on the shoreline to keep volume on the span lighter as we look at the map. that would make things easier to handle if there are problems. high wind advisory reported for many of the spans there and this traffic incident is the only problem because of the crash over into sunol and west 84, around the ge plant and that may be clearing lanes right now. back over to you, kris. this morning about 225,000 pg&e customers are without power across northern california. look at the map. the
look at still winds across the region all the smoke is going to start start to settle down in the bay and that means worsening air quality likely over the next couple of days that smoke is of being pushed anywhere because winds have calmed down so much right now we re in the 50 s and 60 s for your current temperatures with a word in oakland at 63. concord and fairfield beach at 58 while dublin and livermore 57 to kick off this morning. as we look at wind speeds across the bay area you see how calm things are that northerly flow that brought us the smoke, it s all but gone at this point. now we just have a weak onshore. wind that is pushing in just a touch of fog at the coast. that likely has a bit of smoke imbedded in as well as we do look at calm winds that smoke is it going to be pushed anywhere else so now it s just settled right here in the bay area meaning likely to be hazy skies well through the afternoon. these hazy skies. they re going to keep temperatures cool way co
