Domestic violence and an active criminal restraining order. In addition, the suspect had a history of mental illness. Reporter kpix 5 has learned the suspect is this man, mirza tatlic. Police say officers outside the home tried to talk him into surrendering but when he appeared at a window and pointed the gun at officers, a Police Sharpshooter opened fire killing him. The mother was later found dead and the 13yearold was not physically harmed. Again, dealing with someone who is mentally ill, who had choices and he didnt give the family choices, he didnt give my officer a choice. Reporter those Police Dispatch tapes also detail how the killer was apparently using the cell phone of the 13year old brother to call the ex girlfriend perhaps knowing that she would not pick up if she knew it was him but would pick up the phone if she thought her little brother was calling.
