good afternoon. i m tori campbell. there is a massive backup at the bay bridge toll plaza. the drive into san francisco really should be a smooth one at the beginning of this holiday weekend but there s been a traffic jam on the span for hours. ktvu s tom vacar is live at the toll plaza to explain what is causing all of this gridlock. tom? reporter: well, there are probably a number of things causing this. but certainly technical glism has a lot to do glitch has a a lot to do with it. traffic is going slower and slower. but this began when it was still dark. bay area authorities say they are still working on an unusual software glitch that cause ed big problems in the early- morning. the metering lights and the carpool lane lights came on at 5 after 6:00. normally, those are only on during noncommute hours. reporter: initially technicians tried to cure problem by rebooting. we had to shut down the system. i heard been causing pretty significant backups. re ....
