The Fairfield Lions Club has named Konnor Dagg as its 2022 FCHS Star Student. Dagg is the son of Wayde and Carrie Dagg, and he received the Star Student plaque and a $400 check from the Lions Club. The Lions Club named two teachers as Co-Educators of the Year for 2022. Kevin Greathouse is the PE teacher at New Hope Grade School, and Shelly Borah is a fourth grade science and social science teacher at Fairfield District 112. JoAnn Atwood and Katie White were Dagg's grade school and high school STAR Teachers, respectively. The club also recognized retiring educators Debbie Webb, Ruth McMeen, Robin Atwood, and Gayle McGehee for their years of service, and it said it was proud to be able to honor area teachers and administrators for all they do for their students and the future of the community. Wayne County Mobile Home Tax Bills will be mailed tomorrow (April 22), and they are due July 1st. Anyone paying after July 1st will be subject to a $25 per month penalty. The total amount extended this year is $91,605.77 for 965 mobile homes. Last year, the extension was $98,248.35 cents for 1,040 mobile homes. Payment may be made in person at the Wayne County Courthouse, in the drop box on the courthouse's west side, or by mail. Anyone with questions can call the office of Wayne County Treasurer Donna Masterson at 842-5087. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The Fairfield Community High School Board of Education will meet tonight at 6 in the school study hall. New Hope Grade School was crowned champion of the Wayne County Scholastic Bowl Friday night at Frontier Community College. The team went undefeated on the day, topping Jasper and Wayne City in the morning before defeating second-place Cisne in the championship match. Team members include Grady Simpson, Allison Breuer, Logan Hodges, Aiden Dunn, Alivia Rice, Karoline Book, Wren Braddock, Carly Fleener and Kamden Vaughan. The team is coached by Ardis Barbre. Effective Monday, Fairfield Memorial Hospital has announced changes to its visitation policy. Visitors entering the hospital and its clinics will no longer be required to screen upon entering any of its locations with the exception of the Skilled Care Unit, where it is still required by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
