BOLO Please be aware that the Wayne County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for a white male wearing a muddy Carhartt style jacket and jeans. Subject appeared to be in his late 20's to early 30's and is approximately 5'10" tall. Subject was last seen on foot in the 1800 block of County Highway 7. Subject is wanted for questioning in regards to a stolen vehicle and loader tractor out of Clay County. If spotted do not approach subject, but call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 842-6631 or 911. The Fairfield City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening with all alderman present. The annual Appropriations Ordinance was unanimously approved after a public hearing prior to the council meeting. The appropriation stands at $28,720,000. The Fairfield Lions Club has named Konnor Dagg as its 2022 FCHS Star Student. Dagg is the son of Wayde and Carrie Dagg, and he received the Star Student plaque and a $400 check from the Lions Club. The Lions Club named two teachers as Co-Educators of the Year for 2022. Kevin Greathouse is the PE teacher at New Hope Grade School, and Shelly Borah is a fourth grade science and social science teacher at Fairfield District 112. JoAnn Atwood and Katie White were Dagg's grade school and high school STAR Teachers, respectively. The club also recognized retiring educators Debbie Webb, Ruth McMeen, Robin Atwood, and Gayle McGehee for their years of service, and it said it was proud to be able to honor area teachers and administrators for all they do for their students and the future of the community. Wayne County Board Chairman Bruce Reeves says the board will not vote on naming an Interim Sheriff at its meeting tonight. He says the board must first formally declare a vacancy for the position, and letters will then be sent to the Republican and Democratic Party Chairs. The board is expected to hold a special session in the coming days to bring the matter to a vote. The North Wayne School Board held a special session last night to vote on following the state mask mandate for schools. The board voted 7-0 in favor of keeping masking optional for the year, both indoors and on buses. North Wayne is the second board in the Wayne/Edwards County area to have such a vote, joining Edwards County. Fairfield Police say 30-year-old James Wood and 24-year-old Amanda Powell were cited after two separate accidents Tuesday.
