The Fairfield Rotary Club during their meeting on Thursday announced their scholarship recipients for the year. Lucy Britt, Sara McGehee, Callista Willett, and Tyler Koker were all named Fairfield Rotary Scholars. Britt will be going to Basic Training, coming back to play volleyball at Frontier, go for Advanced Training, and then continue on in education. McGehee will be studying Aviation and Airport Management. Willett will study to be a counselor, and Koker will be a Graphic Design Major and minor in Marketing in Business
Congratulations to the Fairfield FFA Public Speaking team that competed at Section 23 event in Albion on January 19th. Kayden Wells placed 1st in JV Prepared Speaking Sara McGehee place 2nd in Prepared Speaking Eden Duckworth placed 4th in the FFA Creed Lacey Tew placed 4th in JV Prepared Speaking Wells and McGehee advance to SIU district public speaking in April.
Fairfield Park District will hold a special meeting today at 1:00 p.m. at the Swimming Pool at Leo French Park, Fairfield, Illinois 62837. The purpose of the meeting will be to meet and discuss the potential splash pad. The Wayne County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Tuesday, August 2, at Bob Boyles Hall on the campus of Frontier Community College in Fairfield. Lunch will be served at 11:30, followed by the program and business meeting. Cost of the meal is $12.00. Sara McGehee will present a program about her alpacas, Apollo, Winston, and Simon. Fairfield Community High School is holding in-person registration today from 1-6pm and tomorrow from 10am until 2pm in the school study hall/library. The fees for this year are as follows: Textbook rental and computer disk fee - $50 per student; Drivers Education Fee (if enrolled) - $50; Student Parking Paved Lot - $25; Student Parking Gravel Lot - $15; The Technology Fee of $55 has been waived for the 2022-2023 school year. Financial aid forms will be available at registration for fee waivers. Students should make arrangements to have their picture taken during registration, regardless of if a student does in-person or on-line registration. Pictures taken during this time will be used for the yearbook and their student ID cards. The ID cards can be used at all FCHS home athletic events to allow a student to get in free of charge. Wayne County Mobile Home Tax Bills will be mailed tomorrow (April 22), and they are due July 1st. Anyone paying after July 1st will be subject to a $25 per month penalty. The total amount extended this year is $91,605.77 for 965 mobile homes. Last year, the extension was $98,248.35 cents for 1,040 mobile homes. Payment may be made in person at the Wayne County Courthouse, in the drop box on the courthouse's west side, or by mail.
