alexis mcadams with the latest on the flooding at the chicago o hare international airport. we will start with lakawana, new york, hi, max. reporter: good afternoon, we are ways south of downtown buffalo and we are standing next to a gas station because this is one of the few places that people can go to to just warm up and get inside, get food, a lot of people actually spent the night at this gas station because they became stranded in blizzard conditions last night. we were one of those who got stranded in the blizzard conditions, completely white-out, you couldn t sigh in front of you. we had to honker down in the cars and spend the night in the cars, luckily we had full tanks and we were able to keep warm. shelter are open and police officers have been shuttling those folks to warming shelters. meanwhile, though, some services aren t available in parts of western new york and some parts of buffalo, emergency services just simply can t get out to people and unfortunately w

Seems like chain saws just sound louder at 6 00 in the morning. But crews are hard at work despite the early hour because this tree not only landed on two cars but took some power lines down with it. So they want to get this work done as soon as possible. Because it did knock some power out for a few customers this neighborhood. So, they think theyre going to be here a while. Crews telling me this was a huge pine that fell and they have to move it but still, theyre cutting it up right now so its going to be some time before they clear out. They got the call last
Bumpertobumper traffic as they try to leave. Im scared because i have never been in anything like this before. Reporter last week a nearly 230footlong hole was created after chunks came out of the major spillway. A plan is in place which will hopefully plug that hole. That would include using helicopters to drop bags of rock into the crevice and prevent any further erosion. Reporter for the first time, officials are forced to use the emergency spillway. Then finding a second hole causing evacuations. Officials now say the water levels are dropping but the threat is still there. And a little bit of good news is that the water levels have dropped. We are told they are dropping at 4 inches per hour. As you can see behind me, that water rushing through that spillway with a force so strong that it actually looks like theres a mist in the air.
