community. the national weather service will be here, surveying the damage but our prayers and thoughts are certainly with those 28 people injured person who died in the storm yesterday. jacqui: such a huge crowd there, those are terrible numbers. but at the same time, it's almost lucky there were not more people that were badly injured from this. thoughts and prayers with everyone affected there, through the community and one person has been reported dead prevention of touchdown around 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon yesterday afternoon as a twister tort to say the national weather service office in little rock had to transfer duties over to the memphis office building meteorologist meteorologist took shelter, homes and businesses were ripped apart the tornado. even though warnings were sent out still took some by surprise but here's a one who said he was out shopping when he had to run for shelter in the storm. >> as i got in, huddled in rear every single glass window blew out people were blown back. it must've been i don't i thought i was a goner for sure. quick urgency cruiser and into which a rescue met residents were told to stay within the area damaged by the tornado part arkansas governor sarah huckabee sanders issued a state of emergency due to this tornado and other damage caused by tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in central arkansas. meanwhile the national guard the set up look like answer this is our map without all the way to extreme storm threat inducement to bull's-eyes pan out each would have been a tornado reported on the ground. these panned out, where are we looking at today question shift all this to the east. we do back this down the storm that is the likely level stretching back into the midwest all areas you can see severe weather today we are right? >> yes, i do. i think this very well could grow it more. governor desantis is also a friend of mine he is not in the race. i think president trump, people remember what the economy was like what they remembered where our strength was in the world and what it was like to be on main street is a small business owner et cetera and they like that and compared to what we have today we have high inflation, we have no supply chain, high interest rates. it's hard for people to survive. i think once we look at all of that it certainly does help president trump. but mainly people look at this if it can happen to him it can happen to me. this is going to be an election i think that's going to show people really want their country back and not big government the government out of the way. jacqui: we still have a lot left to learn about what this indictment involves producing reporting there's potentially 30 charges. but of course we will not really know anything until they unseal that on tuesday but we are all going to keep watching for any news around that pretty want to catch up with you on the aftermath of the school shooting in nashville. you have got children being buried, families planning funerals now. there is this debate about whether the shooter's manifesto should be released. saturn josh hawley has been calling to investigate the shooting potentially as a hate crime because of a christian school being targeted for there are a lot of things we do not know about the shooters motive here. it sparked the debate about whether or not the writing made before this transpired should be released, what your thoughts on that? >> i think it probably should but it reminds us again we are going to have this debate for a long time on school shootings are horrendous. guns and second amendment and so forth we need to secure our schools and got a bill at the right now that's been out there for several cycles right now that allows for grants for communities to have experts review the schools on what they need and get actual money to fix their schools and to secure the schools for the problem is we talk so much about this back-and-forth that our kids and our teachers are not safe. we need to secure our schools immediately. we need to do that in congress me too pass legislation like my bill and get our young people secure and then continue to have the stock and find out how we fix it. i do think to a lot of people talk about mental illness. i do not profess to be a mental illness expert. do think a lot of the problems are created because we have lost the family unit in america. been to begin to talk about that again. jacqui: a conversation about what to do legislatively after something like this is always the cynical. because people feel like they're just not going to be able to pass laws with the emergence of tight and each side dug in. realistically, do you see any chance for some of the things you want to see, fortifying schools, addressing mental health, to be paired with something that folks on the left are calling for that would for instance look at universal background checks is it realistic to hope anything can really be done? there is hope we can do this and we can fix it and we can stop this horrible -- these events that happen in our schools. but like i say we need to have this debate. while we are having the debate less pass legislation that secures the schools, give local communities be able to draw on some federal grants that will allow them to put glass upper-class needs to become and take it down, take doors up put them down, we need to secure these kids and these teachers but when they go to school the morning they need to feel safe and not concerned. we need to do that and let's in congress to supervise prosecutors, states attorneys, that is just not our job. once we do this we start to cross the line. the president is innocent until proven guilty. he is deserving of all of the due process the law affords he can have motions filed before the trial judge such that he can bring these issues to the attention of the court and the court make a ruling. i am amenable and willing to ask the court. i have trusted my college will do the same. griff: are right, now let me turn a little bit to the current occupant of the white house, president biden. we have been giving fox news polls. one of them, congressman specifically addressing the economy. we can show you here, his approval on the economy now 35%. what is your take on the fact that the president is struggling on the economy? higher rating. but i am realizing now, having been in congress as long as i have, presidency and the high ratings that they used to get is unlikely. there is so much negativism the president has to contend with. this a president has to contend with a war that disrupted supply chains. he had to contend with the pandemic. and is still to a certain extent having to deal with some of the residue from the pandemic. this president has done a job i think is good, i respect what he has done. we have now seen gas prices come down about 30% and jobs are still going up. this is one of those times you have something that is somewhat anomalous. right? the prices of gas coming down, inflation coming down and you still have jobs being created. it is a fantastic think he is doing so with espionage. a very serious crime and he will probably face a closer trial will probably not have an idea but the concrete accusations a are. and he will probably be sen sentence. that's a grim outlook this is not a country that's friendly to journalists. you were there in moscow until just before the invasion. tell me what it is like working there, what kind of risks you face as a journalist and what is like dealing with the russian government where it's not exactly a free press kind of country? >> at the great question people have asked about that. i worked in moscow as a journalist for total of 13 ye years. and i have to say for certain of immunity we were not affected by laws. in the increment did not carry that much we were writing. all of that changed at the beginning of pollutants full-scale invasion. a lot of u.s. news organizations are pulled out their correspondence because they were afraid of falling a foul of new laws against spreading so-called fake news report discrediting the russian military. that is what everyone was afraid about, those laws. now what happened with kevin he is being charged with espionage. he will not even have an open trial. >> why do you think caps on of reporting with other organizations pulled out all of the reporters? evan is an extremely committed reporter. his parents are soviet immigrants. he had russian language growing up. it was a big story. what's going on inside of russia rightfully on ukraine. what russia because of the zirconia laws drove him to go there and keep on reporting. russian citizens are reacting to this news and to more broadly the war on ukraine. how is that playing out in russia media and how are people digesting it? >> with evans arrests a lot of russians and feel russian journalists have faced persecution for years. there is a similar espionage case that just finished rec recently. to journalists being targeted more broadly, what do they think about the war? as far as we know that's the kind of story and that was when he was arrested. and in some you're really knowing what people think inside of russia. does he is going to be convicted and sentenced because that is how the state operates. what does that mean president biden needs to do because he is essentially a half case. quincy is essentially a hostage he will not be the first american in that situation where there is of course former marine paul who has been in a russian prison for some four years now. there was a prisoner swap, there've been a couple prisoner swaps recently between the u.s. and russia.
