searching for a suspected arsonist suspected of setting a fire that killed his own son. alex savidge is in vallejo >> reporter: investigators say he intentionally set fire to this home here. his family was sleeping inside the home at the time. that fire ultimately killed the man's five-year-old son and severely burned that boy's mother. you can see that neighbors set up this memorial out on the sidewalk in front the home in honor the child who lost his life in this fire. this morning, a manhunt is underway for 52-year-old darrylone shuemake sr. accused of burning this home. he douse add bedroom with a flammable liquid while the child and his mother were sleeping in that room. the mom suffered second and third degree burns and is now being treated at u c davis medical center. neighbors tried to rescue the five-year-old boy deleone but they could not save him. one of shuemake's oldest son described the suspect in this case as an abusive father who was always violent and controlling. >> i've known how bad my father was for many a years. that's why i always did my best to get away from him. and this entire situation was -- has me really stressed out, really depressed. my little brother only made it to five years old. >> reporter: court records show that the suspected arsonist in this case was accused of harassment and domestic violence involving other children in solano county in the past. investigators have not said what motivated shuemake sr. as we bring you to live pictures here, the five-year-old who lost his life, deleone, was always playful, loved the warriors. you can see the balloons here tied up outside of the home. neighbors say that this boy idolized his father. again, the man who is now accused of setting fire to home ultimately killing that san jose where, this morning, a good samaritan rescued people from a burning home. someone driving back saw smoke coming from the roof,got out of the car, knocked on the door and helped people get out safely. the cause is still under investigation at this point. we do know that the family is getting help from the red cross. many in san francisco say this never never seen so many homeless campsites in the city. sam dodge tells the k- chronicle that's not only san francisco. he says that 1/3 of all homeless people are in california. greg suv said that his officers issued many citation many people who get citations can just throw them away without consequences. police feel that's just not feel it's worthwhile to write those tickets and new developments in the investigation into the egyptair crash. forensic experts say that human remains from the crash site suggest that there was an explosion on board. so far, parts of the plane, personal belongings and human remains have been recovered. investigators have yet to find the black box recorder. smoke and fire started from the cockpit and quickly spread to the front bathroom before the plane went down. all 66 people on board were killed when the plane crashed in the mediterraneanon the way to egypt. and an evident is underway to register last-minute voters and candidates are making more stops here in the bay area. brian flores is la vega is there. you are learning more about about the victim. >> reporter: keith green, the victim, said he had been threatened by his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend and that he felt afraid. that's according to friends. the paper reports that keith green told them, his friends, that he was falsely accused of domestic violence against that ex-girlfriend. he disappeared on april 29 th. his body was found two weeks later in sonoma county. investigators arrested green's ex-girlfriend, tiffany li; her current boyfriend, kaveh bayat; and a friend, olivier adella. police won't say anything about the motive or the cause of death. >> yes, we do know the cause of death but we can't tell you that right now. the body was not manipulated. >> reporter: police would not say what they mean by manipulated but the body was not burped. on facebook, green's body has thanked law enforcement for their work in this case and say that the focus is now on the well-being of his children. green was gods did not like that because now, it's very, very slow. 85 is slow, and 280, a couple of accidents and now we are at the peak of that silicon valley commute. well, mostly cloudy, partly sunny. a lot of low clouds, clearing to the valley. that will help thunderstorm activities pop up later today. this time of the year, you get a low coming in, cool air aloft setting the parameters for some wife. >> i hope and pray that somebody is going to catch him. you just don't do that to a little kid. >> reporter: investigators say that shuemake doused a bedroom with a flammable liquid while the five-year-old and mother were sleeping. the mom suffered burns. neighbors tried to rescue deleone from that bunk home but they could not save hip. one of shuemake's older sons describes his father as violent and abusive. he is hoping he will at hoping -- he will turn himself in. >> have some common decency for once in your life and turn yourself in because there is no point in running. there is nowhere you can go. there is no one who is going to help you. >> reporter: court records show that the suspected are his was accused of harass -- arsonist was accused of harassment and violence involving other children and women in the past. investigators have not said what motivated shuemake to set fire to his home. but neighbors tell us that the five-year-old who was killed was playful, loved the warriors and idolized his father, again the man who is accused of killing him, setting fire to the home. they are hoping that the boy's mother will be out of the hospital by next week to attend a vigil thatneighbors have set up. now to san jose. we learned that a good samaritan helped rescue and get a family out of a home. the driver was passing by and saw smoke coming out of the house. they stopped and knocked on the door and got people out. investigators found a very important piece of evidence that may lead them to a suspect in last weekend's freeway shooting in richmond. it started sunday night wane apparent road rage incident. two drivers cut each other off on interstate 580. a man in a volvo fired three shots at the other car but no one was hit. but the shooter crashed into a pole, left behind a front end with a license plate, 7 en k 356. the car is a 2005 gray volvo sedan, just like this one that you see in the picture. there obviously have been several shootings on bay area freeways in recent months, police think that some are gang related. police have not said if this is gang related. human remains retrieved from the crash site suggest there was an explosion on board. an international effort is underway to retrieve items from the debris field from the mediterranean sea. parts of the plane, human remains and personal belongings were recovered. but investigators have yet to recover the black boxes. it is believed that fire broke out and smoke spread through the cabin before the plane went down the race to the white house is quickly turning four oakland police officers accused of sexual misconduct. the bay area news group and the paper east bay express are reporting that the alameda county sheriff's office is investigating comments one of its deputies left on the facebook page of the woman that the four officers are accused of having sex with. they say that the woman was at least 18 at the time of the online interaction. the deputy did not commit a crime or break policy however, that communication is still something that official also talk about with the officer. and the second baltimore police officer to stand trial was found not guilty on all charges. the first case ended in a mistrial. now some people are saying the prosecutor moved too quickly in filing charges against the six officers in the case. other people are angry about the verdict demonstrating outside of the courthouse yesterday. the trial against the officer facing the most serious charges in the case is set to start in two weeks. you remember gray (family laughs) and the whole party is looking... can i take a look? mitch come on! get high speed internet from at&t with 99.9% reliability for just $30 a month. keep calm, your internet's on. welcome back to mornings on 2. it's 8:44. san francisco's acting police chief is not wasting time, reaching tout to neighborhoods and communities. last night, interim police chief toney chaplin introduced himself to a community. he talked about several issues including last week's deadly officer-involved shooting that led to the resignation of police chief greg is your. >> ktvu asked him if he wants to be the permanent police chief and he says his focus right now, reforming the department. also, he hopes that his officers will have body cameras by july. some san francisco business and professional groups wrote an open letter, showing their support for former police chief greg suhr who resigned last week. 18 organizations including the chamber of commerce, police union released this open letter to mayor ed lee, and the board of supervisors. the letter praised suhr. the group says. the commission has dragged its feed on providing important nonlethal weapons like tasers and while san francisco's population keeps growing by thousands of people a year, the police department has not been fully staffed in decades. if you want to see the whole letter, you can go to the web link section in ktvu.com. a woman in milwaukee is facing very serious charges after she rammed her car into a sheriff squad car during a traffic stop injuring two deputies and even her own mother. take a look at this dash cam video showing what happened on may 15th. deputies say they pulled over 23-year-old cavina freeman on suspicion of speeding. she gave a fake license, gave a fake in him and when the tow truck got here, this happened. she put the car in reverse, rammed into the deputies. two deputies, and even the woman's mother who was in the car, received minor injuries. ey could receive up to 23 years if convicted in all charges. sal is right over there >> dave, good morning to you. we are still looking at a very crowded commute. we'll start to the commute to the richmond bridge. there is still a little bit of a slow down here approaching the ride over to san rafael. and if we go to the maps, i can show you that not only is 580 westbound slow but a lot of slow traffic coming down this way in the general portion of west contra costa and we moved the maps over. things are improving a little bit on 680 and highway 4. if you are looking at the maps, you can see plenty of red here, especially on 880 south and all over the south bay here as you drive through the south bay. on the toll losta, traffic is going to be busy as you drive there as well. so just have a lot of slow traffic still, but fortunately, things are improving. now, how about our weather today? >> it was big. what a utah family did when they saw that pig guy lounging -- the big buy lounging around on a front porch. welcome back to mornings on 2. it ale 8:54. five people were killed in hawaii. it went down after taking off. the plane appeared to have engine problem when is it burst into flames in mid-air. >> something must have been wrong with the en engine. because when it was going down, the thing was catching on fire. it was on fire and when it hit the ground, everything exploded. >> the f.a.a. and the national transportation safety board are investigating looking for the cause of that crash the menlo park fire department is looking to help firefighters who can't afford to live in the city. 30 of the firefighters live 60 miles or more away from the firehouse. many of them spend two hours or more commuting to work. the chief says he is now offering stipends to encourage them to live in menlo park. firefighters who live within 60 miles are offered $200 stipend. those who live within 10 miles can get up to $1000 a month he says that's an experiment that's helped. >> our competitors are tech. they pay people $10,000 a year to live close to where they work. >> the chief wants to expands dormitories so that firefighters can sleep there if they need to. imagine looking out your window and seeing a mountain lion on your front porch. it happened to a family in utah. >> i looked out and i said, what dog is on my porch? and i tapped on the door and he or she turned around and i said, that ain't no dog >> reporter: no, that's no dog. the homeowner called wildlife. they got there two hours later and shot hit with a tranquilizer dart. and it took off. >> we have been in the park city, heber area for 30 years and never had one that close to me before. >> he does not want it again. wildlife officials released the mountain lion back into the wild. wow. we have foxes, deer and wild turkeys at our house but nothing like that. and thank goodness. today, we are talking about many things, the sharks closer than ever to the stanley cup. and big green light for draymond green for tonight's game. massive manhunt underway for the man accused of setting a house fire that killed his own son. this morning, we are also hearing from another child of the father at the center of the investigation. and could the high cost of bay area living affect public safety?
