on it, and if you had to bug out, how would you even do that. >> it all depends on what event is unfolding. if it's an earthquake and the bridges and tunnels collapse. even if the tunnels don't set. jason thank you so much for coming here and for the part you played, the central part you played in this documentary. unlike a lot of preppers who live in rural arkansas, you live in new york. why is it important for someone who lives in a city, as most americans do, to prep? >> it's important to prep in a city like new york because, as we saw with hurricane irene and super storm sandy people went without food and water in some cases and because they're relying on the system and local politicians a lot of people were suffering. >> tucker: yeah. >> you prep so you don't have to take part of that fiasco when it happens. >> tucker: yeah. so you were a fireman for a lot of your life. when did you decide that you can't rely on the system to save your life? >> i relied on the system when i read a book and the book was called one second after. but when i watched the fiasco, again, that was super storm sandy and hurricane irene, i realized that we are dependent on one another and we're dependent on ourselves. >> tucker: yeah. so prepping was the object of much ridicule for a lng time. preppers were considered crazy, you were probably called crazy. how do people respond now? >> people, secretly ask me questions without please don't let anybody know but how do you get ready for this, how do you do that. and i let them know. i don't have -- i don't pass judgment on people. >> that's interesting. so how do i purify my water but they don't want others to know they're asking you this. >> right. i think people are more embarrassed because they used to break our chops, right? so while breaking our chops and laughing in a circle with their friends, when they started seeing these emergencies happening elsewhere, especially with what just happened to east palestine, people are now asking me water filtering questions. i'm not a chemist so i tell them i really don't know. these chemicals i know you can't filter out but it's still good to have a water filter for any other thanks. >> tucker: so as you just heard, water, when it comes down to it, one thing you worry about, because water is essential to human life. but it turns out there are huge and growing threats to
