hovered 10 feet above the martian service which was the first powered flight on another planet. >> this really is a wright's brother moment. brian: all right. here we go of the fate of exminneapolis police officer derek chauvin is now in the hands of the jury. ainsley: the case putting the nation on edge. congresswoman maxine waters urging prefers to become confrontational if schawfn acquitted. pete: that's right she said only first degree murder is acceptable. jackie ibañez is live as cities prepare for possible unrest. >> good morning, guys. cities across the u.s. are preparing for the worst, boarding up buildings and call in the national guard. yesterday illinois governor said he would send 125 guard troops to chicago. congresswoman waters comments did make their way to the courtroom with derek chauvin's lawyers using them call for a mistrial. the judge shot down the motion but made it clear he was not happy with waters. listen to this. >> i will give you the congresswoman waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned. i wish elected officials would stop talking about this case, especially a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law. >> waters' comments have sparked fury among republicans who have called for her to be censored or even inteeched. she dismissed the blow back saying she wouldn't quote be bullied by the g.o.p. kevin mccarthy says some democrats might support a censor. >> i know there is probably 10 to 15 who would love to vote that way. this has gone on too far and for too long. it's time to say what is right and what is wrong and everybody knows her action was wrong. with. >> waters has since doubled down telling reporters the whole civil rights movement is confrontation. despite her words, the new report says waters requested police protection, believe it or not, for her trip to that minnesota protest. guys, back to you. brian: all right. thank you very much, jackie. it is just pretty amazing. so when you watch this maxine waters make those comments, over the weekend you think to yourself that looks unbelievably ill advised. it looks inciteful but you wonder how this is going to resonate then you send the size of the crowd around her. you see what happened after she made those comments and ripple effects went right to the judge in the case keeping pundits and political sides out of this. ainsley: the reason was the nelson the defense attorney for chauvin he looked at the judge and said no way a jury could be unbiased given constant media coverage and with her saying these inflammatory comments and then he goes on to say now that we have u.s. representatives threatening acts of violence in retaliation to this trial, it's freakin' mind-blowing that's when the judge says this is grounds for appeal. we could turn this over this trial could be turned over. he didn't actually do that now we are waiting on the jury to come back with a verdict. pete: it was a stunning moment. they did appeal and it was denied in the moment. he said this could create grounds in the future. the jury had been dismissed. they had heard all the evidence they were in the back room. this was the judge with the attorneys at this point. that objection was raised. it was amazing to see what was happening outside the courtroom almost for the first time come directly into the courtroom. because you didn't hear about the case was not about race. you didn't hear a lot of things you are hearing in the streets. in this case what maxine waters said because the jury was not sequestered potentially could have impact on them and how they rule here which could have serious implications. ainsley: congressman kevin mccarthy said this is dangerous that's why he is introducing this bill to censor maxine waters. now that she has said all of this is putting doubt on the jury. brian: chad pergram did this story on foxnews.com. democrats are tell him they are upset that maxine waters did that if you are that upset, put your name behind it republicans have no problem calling out other republicans. why can't a democrat stand up and go i'm really offended by maxine waters being involved, being in the same party as me. acting so irresponsible at 82 years old. when is she going to grow up? she travels with security in order to go into the center of brooklyn center in order to say if this verdict doesn't come out right, get ready to really ratchet up the. pete: confrontation. brian: confrontation. i should use the right word here. one thing about the defense attorney he said i ask you, judge, please sequester the jury. and then out of nowhere this brooklyn center story, this tragedy happens with daunte wright. and then these riots happen for nine straight days and maxine waters jumps in the middle of it. you have got to tell me the jury didn't see any of this? they are not affecting by this know if they vote a certain way you know what? there is reasonable doubt if they feel personally responsible if people die and places are burned? ainsley: you said democrats should be offended and put their name on it. brian: absolutely. ainsley: instead they're defending her. at least the media is. listen to. this do you really think she is calling for violence? >> most people know that that's not true. and the people who are speaking out against her are using it politically. >> the judge is opining about whether it was public or write seemed myself appropriate. free country talk about whatever you want. >> a judge lashing out u.s. congresswoman even mentioning the possibility that a verdict could be overturned in the future. >> i don't think that maxine meant anything by that except to say that you have to stick with it, you know, you have to be there. one little thing like this and they jump all over her. i mean, she is a one congresswoman. pete: brian, if you expected the democrats to come out and call out those comments, i think you are getting the opposite. they know how to close ranks when necessary. brian: always. pete: and the media does it for them. brian: she has a history of this. i was actually out in california when the rodney king verdict came in and reginald denny was almost killed and you saw the horror story when he ripped out of his truck because people weren't happy with that verdict. i saw the curfews and i saw the trucks and the national guard and blocking of roads and the burning of buildings. and i did not know her then, but we now know her now. but the year was 1992. and if you are looking at a pattern of behavior you go back there the riots after rodney king and maxine waters. roll, look. >> there are scores of injuries and still anger and frustration and people who plan on staying on the streets and expressing their outrage and anger in any way they deem necessary. there are those who would like for me and others and all of us to tell people to go inside, to be peaceful, that they have to accept the verdict. i accept the responsibility of asking people not to endanger their lives. i am not asking people not to be angry. i am angry, and i have a right to that anger. and the people out there have a right to that anger. we don't want anybody killed. none of us believe in violence, but there is some angry people in america. ainsley: she also said a few years ago, remember, she told people to get in the faces of trump's cabinet members and said challenge them if you see them at a gas station, a restaurant, a department store. brian: by the way, first time seeing those comments. i don't have a problem with those comments. pete: she caveated them properly at the end. she started out out yaj and anger any way they deem necessary and then got to the point i don't want to see violence. at the same time, it is in keeping with the perspective that she has carried all the way forward to brooklyn center, which is agitate, confront, agitate, to include the trump administration. what she did was so dangerous in brooklyn center was set an impossible standard. she said it must be a first degree murder charge. that's not even what they're charging taker chauvin with. which means even if they convict him on all count, murder 2, murder 3, and manslaughter. it's not enough for maxine waters which means it's confrontation no matter. what and iteration of that is -- you said it much better than i did, is what tucker carlson said last night about maxine waters' message. take a listen. >> we have got to make sure they know we mean business, she said. well, that couldn't be clearer. do what we say or we will kill you. that's the message. maxine waters has much use for those anglo-saxon civic traditions like jury trials. her demand was very clear. convict officer derek chauvin of first degree murder or we will burn it down no. honest person who has watched the trial would tell you is he guilty of first degree murder. saying that, claiming that, is not a rational evidence-based position no matter how voted for in the last election and no matter what you think of george floyd. in a fair system no jury would convict chauvin of first degree murder. but, again, maxine waters doesn't believe in the system, the one that she helps run so she is demanding a first degree murder conviction. brian: right. ainsley: congressman steve scalise, remember, he was shot on the baseball field he said i was shot because of this kind of dangerous rhetoric. where is the outrage from the dems and the media. they need to condemn this? grab that guy he is here illegally running across the border. pete: no, no. can't say that. brian: unaccompanied adult minor? ainsley: adult minor? brian: i will have to review my note. we will have to see. congressman henry cuellar who has been the voice of reason he has this thing called a district on the border. and he knows when all had hell has broken loose and that's what he sees on a daily basis and wants answers. instead he gets words. listen to his comments. >> i can understand some people are trying to be a little bit more politically correct. but if you look at what the statutes say. they do use the word alien. that's what the statute does. so unless the statute changes, some of us will continue to be using the word alien on that. i mean, that's just what the statute states right now. and i don't think the statute is going to be changed. but i can understand the thinking of some folks. pete: he is exactly right. the statute argument is correct. if you want to change the word you have got to change the law. more insidious than that though. pretty soon, i don't know, give it a week a month a year, if you say illegal alien on the air, brian, you are racist. brian: really? pete: that's where they are going. they start to control the language and start to put you in a box and tell you are incense insensitive not incliewfn not multicultural whatever change the words to impugn you later on this is the most recent example. brian: so rare to be criticized i will be shocked and might have to take off the next day because we really never get much criticism on this show. [laughter] ainsley: the mentioned the dalton story which is one of the private schools on the upper east side and the head master or the person in charge there had to step down. well, same thing is happening in a lot of these schools in the city and we have been talking a lot about grace church school which is downtown and it's a beautiful school. if you walk past it looks like a huge cathedral. a lot of parents send their kids there it's expensive and hard to get into. they are the ones that said no more mom or dad you have to say guardian. brian: or the person who shaves. pete: church school says can't say merry christmas? ainsley: head master gave him time off. parents are uncomfortable. brian: paul rossi. ainsley: he was relieved of teaching duties there was dad upper east side school is he pulling his daughter out eventually. is he hoping he she will be able to remain for the year i believe. all girls private school considered the number one all girls school in the country. he wrote this letter to berry weiss who used to work at "new york times." remember she stepped down and started her own publication now he wrote a letter and she published it. this is what he said: brian: right. so that was the trend. it's so well-written. he is a an investment banker and is he very successful. obviously can afford the $54,000 a year to go to the school but is he pulling his kid out anyway although it probably would mean ivy league education that's the road that is. meanwhile, bari weiss who got this letter, cannot believe the "new york times" and "the washington post" are ignoring the entire story. here is what put in substack such piece also not appear in the op-ed pages of the "new york times" or "the washington post" because those papers have mostly ignored the story of the ideological takeover of schools in part because they are implicated in the story. the same ideological force transforming schools like grace church and brearley also transformed the establishment press. keep on. we always point out bad trends. this is a good trend. if you look at. pete: calling them out. brian: look at bill maher as left wing as anybody look at what he is saying the politically correct culture and what they are doing to our curriculum and bari weiss who is hardly a right wing conservative who is calling out the "new york post" and "new york times." look where the pandemic came from? and provide for our family. and it's sad that pause we don't see the big picture we are expendable. it's hard to see people that i love. that i worked with on a daily basis who just want to go out and provide for their families basically looked at by administrations that they are expendable. pete: bo, have you heard from politician after politician yeah, we do want to get rid of your industry, that terrible industry, we are going to transition you great new green jobs. in your experience, has that materialized for people you know in the industry. >> no, not in a large part. i mean, you know there is stigma on coal miners they can only do one thing that's so wrong. it's a completely false narrative. some of these equipment operators are some of the most skillful people in the world and could do, you know, pretty well anything that's put in front of them. but we, you know, we have not had anybody give us the opportunity to do other jobs. pete: you took a contract manager position with a local contractor because politics of coal mining led to a place one administration to another you may not have a job. >> absolutely every four years the election where are we headed while having a position like i have now and having to rely on sales, yeah. anything in this area has some dependence upon coal i'm in an industry now where i'm providing something that everyone has to have america first platform is the platform of the republican party and candidates running on that are the ones that will receive his support as the prohibitive frontrunner and also the money support as we talked about corporations have stopped giving to the republican party for a lot of the wrong reasons but that corporate establishment open borders amnesty sort of interventionist crowd is gone and america first is. in. brian: people critical of the president mitt romney or liz cheney don't really differ from him on policy. maybe foreign policy few things on afghanistan, that's okay. lindsey graham too tight with the president they disagree. that's fundamentally though they are on the same page. what the president did do is get more of the hispanic vote. it made gains but not enough gains in the african-american community. that's the key to victory long-term. what he has to do what he lost was subsur bon women. he has to find a way to get his message off in a way that should resonate why -- where the activists now? where is al sharpton? why aren't they in that city doing something about this. >> right now the activists and everyone are protesting the police shooting of a 1-year-old gang recruit because that is the narrative that they want to project. they are not interested in fighting for those truly innocent victims who are just trying to do what your child and so many other children are trying to do in my city and across the country. they are not fighting for those children who just deserve a chance to grow up. they are fighting for those causes that perpetrate that narrative that somehow police are bad, government is awful. and that we need more money for more programs to do absolutely nothing and we see the results of that in the city of chicago on daily basis. we see that now with the state attorney interfering with the work of a long-understanding assistant state's attorney well-respected and trying to bring truth to power with regards to that shooting. and we see it with the narrative that our mayor is playing time and again where she is throwing the police under the bus and has yet to call out gangs in the city of chicago. ainsley: what about the city manager let go for calling for due process in daunte wright's case a veteran prosecutor is now on paid leave because he said the adam toledo case that he was armed when he was shot. but when you look at the video, if you slow it down, some are saying he was carrying a gun, he tossed it, but his hands were up when he was shot. so, they put this guy on paid leave. what's your reaction to that? unrest anyway. steve harrigan is in minneapolis preparing for the possible unrest. steve, this verdict comes out. what are you expecting today? >> it really depends on which way it goes. but people here certainly are prepared for the worst. everything is boarded up. schools are shutting down. keep in mind that jury is sequestered. they will have to reach a unanimous verdict on murder or manslaughter charges. the penalty could be anywhere from 4 to 40 years. the controversy swirl about representative maxine waters. she has been out here in the streets encouraging people continue to resist. say anything less than a murder conviction would be unacceptable. that led the defense attorney in the trial to ask for a mistrial. here's that. >> now that we have u.s. representatives threatening act of violence in relation to this specific case, it's mind boggling to me, judge. >> well, i will give you that congresswoman waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned. i wish elected officials would stop talking about this case, especially in a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law and to the judicial branch and our function. >> representative kevin mccarthy is considering a censor for waters for those comments. as for waters herself, she is doubling down saying the whole civil rights movement is they saw last time. the citizens there mortified about it and when nancy pelosi -- well, nancy pelosi didn't condemn it when maxine waters sets a standard that can't be reached, she is saying no matter what the verdict is, there will be violence and that's why people are calling it out. ainsley: nancy pelosi says she doesn't need to apologize, to your point that's why all these cities are on edge right now and they are getting the national guard to come in and help. d.c. they have asked for 1,000 national guard. they are going to send in 250. in illinois, the national guard has been activated there. 125 are going to be in chicago. just preparing for when this verdict comes down. pete: by the way the d.c. thing is really interesting. the d.c. folks asked for 1,000 national guardsmen the national guard says you have been using us so much with no threat assessment, sorry we are only going to give you 250. think how far that was from 25,000 troops on capitol hill that tells you what minimal threat there actually was there for such a long time. brian: guys have other jobs. right? pete: exactly. brian: can't keep abusing people signed up to do this. maxine waters is the one who wants protection from the government in order to go in there and create havoc, further havoc in minneapolis. i'm just asking you, you know the people. why would you open up a dry cleaner or work in a dollar store or why if you are a franchise owner would you think it's a good investment if your place is going to get burned down over six weeks. ainsley: how sad. if the verdict doesn't ainsley: when you talk about immigration, where is kamala harris. she is not going down to the border. she she is traveling throughout the country. she is the border caesar. czar. we thought she was supposed to be handling all the gamut which would be all these facilities no that's mayorkas. now she is going to be covering all the root causes and trying to fix the root causes in central america. agree with josh hawley is it too late. >> his heart is in the right place. give him credit. one of the first senators talking about big tech as an issue when very few other senators were. here is the issue with antitrust law it's not quite the right approach in my opinion. the real problem isn't silicon monopoly on products it's its monopoly on ideas. that's the scariest monopoly of all. even if we break up companies we will have smaller tech companies each of which switch from identical monopoly to cartel. they will be doing the same thing to drorp hiring to who they are allowing on their boards. i have seen this firsthand even the venture capitalist funding the startup subscribe to the monopoly. this isn't easily going to be solved by taking big tech companies and smaller tech companies that still enforce the same ideological agenda we will need a different solution. by the way i don't mind living in a world where the largest technology companies are the world are american. i would rather live in that world where the largest technology companies in the world are chinese. that will be alternative and worse version of censorship. what i want to see is a version where those american companies also represent american values that includes free speech above all. brian: free speech. is there a temp lat out there? you can't say the newspaper business is fair and balanced you can at least be able to understand that they have some type of code of ethics. >> here's the problem with big techni other business including newspapers. they ultimately have a special form of government protection, that's section 230. the real answer rests in section 230 reform. not by repealing it which would be a boon to the big companies that can withstand the possibility of liability. but rather to be able to say that if you benefit from this form of government coddling as senator hawley calls it. if you benefit from sex 230 federal immunity then you ought to be bound by the same standards as the u.s. government that is the u.s. constitution and the first amendment in particular. so you can't have it both ways. either you don't benefit from this special federal blanket of immunity but you abide by the same standards as the federal government you cannot selectively censor political content full stat. i think we need legislative solutions in hiring. a lot of these people get fired for saying the wrong thing at work. look at james tee more at google in 2017. so many firings have followed. amend the civil rights act political belief is up there with religious belief protection. brian: everyone should get their own lawyer and when it comes to corporate america you just say real quick you think it's a real bad sign when major league baseball moves out of georgia marie, look at florida, they opened up in august and covid doesn't impact children like it impacts older adults. why are they doing this? why aren't they following the science? >> you know, the unions are very active at the state, local and federal level. you know, we need democrat leaders in these states such as virginia and new jersey to do the right thing. it should not take an act of the legislature in north carolina or in virginia to get kid back in school. it can be done safely. we're doing it in states where i live. in other states like you mentioned in florida. and it can be done safely. and we need to follow the leadership of the states that are open to get these kids back in school. ainsley: we reached out to both of the governors and governor murphy did send us a statement. he says the governor understands there is no substitute for in person learning and the administration encourages districts to pursue inperson instruction as soon as it is safe to do so. dee, why are these democrats so beholden to the teachers unions? >> they are the number one campaign corinther. one day that's kids are not in the classroom is one day too many. it's great they are going to be back in the fall. it's great that the virginia legislature passed an order they can be back in july they needed to be back yesterday. every day these kids are not back in the classroom is a day that irreparable harm is being done to them. we are going to keep talking about this campaign until they are back in the classroom five days a week. ainsley: marie, it's april 20th. we realistically have a month and a half of school left in most states in the country. the relates of them going back this year pretty slim, right? >> it's pretty slim but it's important to educate parents. it's important for people to be involved in the process and understand why their kids aren't back in school. we will continue to put pressure on states that have not done the right thing so people and parents can be reporter: ainsley, this entire city is boarded up. my hotel room, they're putting plywood over the front of the hotel entrance because there's fear if this police officer is acquitted or doesn't get enough years in prison the city could burn once again as it did a year ago. derek chauvin faces a series of charges on murder and manslaughter and the penalty range could be anywhere from four years in prison up to 40 years, and representative maxine waters of california has been out with the protesters encouraging their resistance saying anything but a murder conviction be unacceptable. now those words have sparked outrage from chauvin's defense attorney and he asked the judge for a mistrial. here is that exchange. >> now that we have u.s. representatives threatening acts of violence in relation to the specific case, it's mind boggling to me, judge. >> well i'll give you that congresswoman waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned. i wish elected officials would stop talking about this case, especially in a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law and to the judicial branch in our function. reporter: representative kevin mccarthy is considering censor of waters for her remarks and as for representative waters she's doubling down saying the whole civil rights movement is based on confrontation. brian, pete, ainsley back to you ainsley: thank you so much, steve. we were talking earlier he confirmed it that they are board ing up because they are prepared when that verdict comes down the jury is going to come back at 10:00 this morning no word if they will make a decision today. it could be the end of the week, it could take a long time. we just don't know. brian: murder two, did he intentionally commit an assault , resulting in the unintentional death? that's the biggest charge. that's 40 year, third degree is acted withindifference to human life is 25 years a lot of people said that's the deal, second degree murder, manslaughter 10 years could get knocked down to two and a half years in this environment, says you acted with culpable negligence which created a reasonable death, or is it all three of these and even murder two as you heard, maxine waters showed up in brooklyn center and said yeah, for me, i need it to be murder one. pete: but as far as i'm concerned it's first degree murder said maxine waters and have you watched actually, that means he showed up with an intent to kill. because you can't meet the standard. absolutely which is why the state never brought that charge because it's not legitimate at all, and she brought that charge, because it's an impossible standard to meet. either way you'll get rioting because maxine waters is not satisfied and when you look at minneapolis right now it's a tinderbox. its got what happened in brooklyn center and the trial of derek chauvin there's no doubt about that but we think of portland, seattle, think of new york and chicago as democrat-run cities that's what minneapolis and minnesota is and they've been dealing with for years and years now defund the police and they have not been willing to deal with mob mentalities that have gone on for over a year, and that's why the remarks of a maxine waters played so heavily inside the courtroom, the judge knows that the jury is aware that they have a big sequestered that this type of violence is possible and you want to believe that those six jurors, six minority, six white, jury of peers, will be able to passionately look at the facts and make a decision and not be influenced by this. ainsley: the problem is these leaders have to be very careful of their messages because there are people out there that will take it to the extreme, when donald trump said peacefully and patriotically go to the capitol many people took that to the extreme. we saw what happened. he got impeached for it. maxine waters going out there and saying stay on the street, get more active, get more confrontational, many people read that the wrong way, even if she didn't intend it to be the meaning that many people are accusing her of. listen to how the media, many channels, defended her remarks. >> do you really think she's calling for violence? most people know she doesn't mean violence. most. there are some that might read that the wrong way and be violent, or go and destroy these businesses, go after cops it's just such a dangerous time right now you have to be careful of the messaging. pete: well by that standard of the leftist mostly peaceful speech. it's mostly peaceful speech then you're okay just like mostly, we're raring up for mostly peaceful protests in minneapolis brian: right so we saw portland , oregon, we saw seattle , we saw new york, there was some riots didn't really get that out of control in new york, so the individual attacks over the weekend and then we see chicago there was some unrest there as usual, saw in north carolina and raleigh, north carolina over the weekend too, governor ron desantis says i've seen enough i am signing i think 2,317 through the legislature an anti-riot law listen. >> if you riot, if you loot, if you harm others particularly if you harm a law enforcement officer during one of these violent assemblies, you're going to jail. we're going to hold you accountable. some of the local governments are actually telling not necessarily in florida but throughout the country, telling police to stand down while cities burnt, while businesses were burnt and people were being harmed. if you tell law enforcement to stand down, then you're responsible for the damage that ensued. we're not going to let the mob win the day. ainsley: and getting ahead of it like he did with covid. brian: specifically it also allows people to sue local governments over personal or property damage if they were determined to have interfered with law enforcement response during civil unrest increases penalties for protesters right away, increases the charges for battery on a police officer during a riot as language that would force local governments to justify a reduction in law enforcement budget so if you are living in the liberal district and you cut back on the police have you to justify it with the governor. pete: it seems obvious, but right now it's completely opposite of everybody else and donald trump and his interview with shawith shawn hannity talkt being the party of common sense. when i listen to ron desantis, that's common sense. you can't riot and you can't assault cops and if you do you'll stay in jail because that's how you maintain law and order and businesses don't get burned to the ground. ainsley: so many people are moving to florida and they agree brian: by the way open gun laws too so people feel safer. i have heard from law enforcement officials that they are getting word in new york, can you imagine that? they aren't going to pull anyone over. pete: they aren't going to pull anybody over? brian: too much of a risk, they don't have the immunity they used to have so i'm pretty sure they are going to start letting people go. ainsley: wow. brian: you can't lock them up when you do pull them over anyway. ainsley: so getting closer and closer to having the wishes come true. brian: absolutely. pete: or unarmed traffic enforcement as well. brian: right. great. here is sheriff grady judd. he's going to he looked at that bill and he was over the governor's right shoulder. he helped formulate that bill and was happy it passed and it's up to him to enforce it. >> the judge got it right. think about it. if you can't have the sanctity of the rule of law , if you can't stand down long enough for a person to get a fair trial, at the moment of the trial, that's a frightening thing. brian: he was talking about maxine waters, so the judge is 100% right. pete: uh-huh. well go ahead. ainsley: you go ahead. pete: earlier in the program we talked to some keystone xl pipeline workers people that worked in the coal lining industry because right now, joe biden i believe yesterday met are members of congress, republicans and democrats to see if they could craft a bipartisan bill. brian: it's his second meeting with republicans. pete: the first one didn't go so well because he wanted to work on bipartisanship. brian: the second time with the infrastructure. ainsley: mitt romney in the second meeting. pete: that's exactly right. we talked to the idea of what the democrats are trying to do right now is convince their former block voters, union members and others to say if you give up your job in dirty fuels, ultimately, you'll get a green job, and that message has been tried before on a lot of those groups of workers including keystone xl pipeline workers. we talked to some of those folks earlier this month to find out whether or not they thought biden's agenda would deliver. here is a portion of it. >> used to be blue color joe, it's green color joe now. >> the middle class is standing right here looking at him telling him hey, we're hurting, and we need jobs. it's not helping us and i don't know of any unions that he's helped so far in other trades. i don't know if he's going to or not but i know that's what he says. >> i lost probably 60 to 80 grand not being able to go on that job. that's my livelihood. we lose insurance, of course. >> my whole family is unemployed. >> your whole family? >> my whole family. ainsley: so sad to see those stories and hear their stories one woman crying because she can't send her kids says she's worried about sending her daughter to college. the first guy in that piece i remember carlie talked to him and i believe that's the guy she went to his house and he was building this beautiful house on the water. he said this is my dream home. i just want a simple life. always dreamed about live on this little lake and having my little property, minding my own business, trying to put food on the table, and go out there and work hard, and he said now i can't continue building my house because i don't have the money, i don't have a job anymore. brian: so we're losing these fossil fuel industries, and people are celebrating and there's going to be a big announcement about rolling out this new green deal as it relates to workers today, beau copley was with us earlier from west virginia and his coal job disappeared and now he feels as though he doesn't exist to the biden administration. >> every four years, we see up and down, the coal industry, and as always depends on whose going to win this election, where are we headed. coal miners, we don't present ourselves extraordinary people, and likely ourselves, i'm not even, you know, a coal miner. i left the industry because i was in jobs that were fairly replaceable and, you know, when these kind of administrations come in, jobs like what i had are usually the first ones that are cut and i think, you know, we're just people who want to get up, go to work, and provide for our family, and it's sad that because we don't see the big picture, we're expendable. pete: bo copley, the same one who confronted hillary clinton in 2016 saying don't tell me you want to get rid of my job and sit in front of me and tell me you're going to make my life better. and the democrat party still hasn't figured this out, don't tell me i don't get it. that idea of climate change means really reorient our entire life and you're going to tell me my job is expendable. they still haven't figured out how to message that because of turning people off and how to do it which is the more important thing. if you actually had a job alternative for these folks they might look at it instead you promise a job and decimate their industries and livelihoods in the process. brian: the infrastructure bill that was there they had two meetings on this infrastructure bill. if joe biden wants to be taken seriously then he really wants to do something on a bipartisan basis first thing he would do is reinstall the recommission the xl pipeline. he could do that people start getting back to work that'll be immediate outstretched hands republicans would have trouble walking away from. ainsley: do you think he would ever do that? he would have to admit he was wrong on that very first day and make all of those progressives so upset? brian: right but he would say i've got to compromise. you want 800 billion of infrastructure, or zero? >> oh, absolutely. let me be very clear. maxine waters intentionally inci ted that crowd and intentionally put pressure on the jury to come back with verdicts and she's asking for a first degree murder verdict which does not exist in this case. the judge was absolutely right. there will be an appeal based on her outrageous comments. she did it to influence and to intimidate the jury. ainsley: we know it's impossible for her to get the verdict she wants. you're right about that. how will people in the community react if the verdict doesn't go in her favor, which it won't, or in their favor? >> well let me tell you right now. she doesn't speak for millions of people who live in democratic cities who want police protection, but ainsley, she gave a okay signal to criminals to arsonists who will use the george floyd case to riot. she basically green lighted them and that, to me, is insulting and also, very very dangerous. ainsley: on january 6, president trump stood out in front of the capitol and said peacefully, patriotically, march to the capitol so that your voices can be heard. he was then impeached. is this any different? >> no, this is worse. let me be very clear. thirty years of being a lawyer, her comments was intended to inc ite the crowd. there was nothing donald trump said on january 6 to incite anyone but what's going to happen? because of her, let me rephrase. she is not going to be criticiz ed because of her gender and because of her political affiliation. ainsley: one more question on this. civil rights movement is confrontational. that was her defense. she said that's what i meant. >> that is an absolute lie. i don't think dr. king was confrontational. dr. king believed in peaceful demonstrations and what she just did was she basically co-opted the civil rights movement to justify criminal misconduct. she is absolutely wrong. ainsley: so george floyd's brother talked this morning on another network. he said that joe biden called him yesterday. listen to this. >> let's start with a phone call that you got yesterday. i was there in the room when president biden called. what did the president say to you, what did you say to him and what was that like in general? >> it was just, he was just calling, he knows how it is, the losing family member and he knows that the process of what we're going through so he was just letting us know that he was praying for us and hoping that everything would come out to be okay. that's basically it. ainsley: leo, what's your reaction? >> actually, it became a reality several years ago when we were beginning to see some large quantity of drugs and they were running back to cartel members but it's really in the last couple months got excessively bad. brian: you've also said you've had more drive by shootings and killings than you've ever had before? >> yes, sir. there has been definitely a spike in the serious crimes as far as drive by shootings, even some homicides, and the amount of drugs that's coming into our county. brian: so when people say well the problem at the border is the problem for texas and new mexico, california, and arizona. it's not a problem for the rest of the country. what do you tell people? >> i tell people that, you know , the border situation certainly is not helping our law enforcement agencies within the united states. we have seen an excessive amount of increase in the number of drugs coming into our county and some of the violence that is taking place as a result of the drug traffic. brian: sheriff johnson you're also saying hey we're overpower ed. we're going to need some help. where do you expect to get that help from, how do you expect to go solicit this help? >> yeah, it's breath taking. i went and watched the first 25 minutes of the briefing this morning, and she used the word "crisis" but not in relation to the border. she said we have a climate crisis on our hands so we've got a climate crisis, we don't have a border crisis, when by the way what is happening with these children on the border is atrocious, the conditions, the facilities, it was a human rights violation according to kamala harris during the trump adminitration, but now it's just they turned a complete blind eye to these children it is an un mitigated crisis at the southern border fueled by a crisis in central america. ainsley: we saw it last night on hannity's show he interviewed the president first on dashcam rail entitlement interview since he left the white house. i felt the strongest part, kayleigh, of that interview was when he was talking about the border, because he said all bid en had to do was nothing. leave it the way it was, listen to this. >> people are coming in by the tens of thousands, they're walking in. all he had to do was leave it alone. if he left it alone we were setting record positive numbers and people would have to come in legally and you know, the other thing that people don't talk about, human trafficking and drugs. that's double, tripled and quadrupled coming in because that's pouring in right now. drugs are pouring in. we had it so tight, we were doing so well. all he had to do was leave it alone. ainsley: then he went on to say the remain in mexico policy so we had to go through the court system to get it and then biden comes in day one and ends all of this. >> that's right, yeah, president trump got it right. you can't argue with results. you can't argue with the 78% decrease in illegal border crossings. you can't argue with that. he used common sense as he mentioned in the interview yesterday. the wall worked. i went with him. i saw the wall firsthand. it worked. these agreements with golden triangle countries and mexico, they worked and biden destroyed and dishandled the entire system but you see these little tasks along the way that i think even he recognizes those policies work because mayorkas reportedly told people within dhs we might close some of the gaps in the wall, they went back to mexico and got troops on the border so you see these little admissions that they are realizing and in fact what he did was common sense. brian: i mean, look, the president biden gets dissed all the time, like by the president of ecuador, they got asked could you see president biden's envoy, no because you wouldn't see me when i came to washington, so really? the president says it's not my problem, because they have pride too, and they were disrespected early on by this administration. >> yeah, that's exactly right and then you have the president of mexico calling him the migrant president and placing the blame for his illegal flow directly at his feet and the northern triangle countries you have one president there saying hey, smugglers are using your language, joe biden, to get people to come to this country, so when you have two world leaders and you mention ecuador so three, calling you out, something is going wrong here. but he's too prideful i think to ever back-pedal, although they did friday even though jen psaki won't admit it. pete: kayleigh real quick, as well, you mentioned language, and the biden administration says they want a more humane policy, so i.c.e. and the border patrol are now saying you can't use, they put out a mandate. you can not use illegal aliens. you can not say alien anymore, it's all undocumented, migrant, unaccompanied children -- ainsley: non-citizen. pete: what does it mean when you're changing the official word and does it make it more humane? >> no it doesn't. they're focused on a word. when there are children who are being placed with parents that may not even be their actual parents because apparently they've lightened up the vetting procedures with placing these un accompanied minors, they are trafficked human trafficked, abused on the journey here and they're focused on a word? pete: thanks, jillian. after spending years as a teacher and then as a principal our next guest walked away from her career to make a difference for american heros. in 2016 she founded ruths for boots an organization dedicated to supporting active duty military veterans and their families in every way possible. here with more on her mission, founder, christy lucas. christy thank you so much for being here this morning. >> thank you for having me and thank you for your service. pete: well thank you for everything you're doing. you know you described it as a leap of faith in 2016 you were a teacher, you had a steady paycheck, principal, you decided you wanted to pursue your passion to serve veterans. why? >> well, when i was at the school i did the veterans day assembly the teacher and principal and i really got to know their stories and their struggles, and when my contract was up aspirins pal, i just felt like god was calling me to something bigger, and anybody that knows me knows i'm a woman of great faith and i tried to find a veteran's organization that i could volunteer within my area, and i couldn't find anything, so, i decided to take that leap of faith and leave everything behind, and what became roots for boots. pete: god bless you what is roots for boots? tell us about it? >> well we are 100% volunteer, we had 100% funded by the local community and what we try to do is meet whatever need or challenge a veteran active duty or military family would have, and we try to get people to use their talents and resources to help us, and we consider that your way of serving your country pete: i didn't get it now i do. grassroots for the folks that wore boots i get it make sense and it started out by providing i think there were eight have it veterans in need how many are you serving now? >> well that was our food bank so we run a monthly food bank among other things and we started with eight and we are up to almost 90 now. pete: wow and your family has a history of track record of service, great grandfather, grandfather in various services, this is something personal to you too. >> it really is. pete, you know, i grew up in a patriotic family and when i wake up, every morning, i ask god to take me to who ever needs me and when you do that you better hold on, because you never know where he's going to take me and this has been one wild, crazy amazing beautiful ride, and i learned patriotism early on from my family and then at the school it really took off and that was the spark. pete: why do you love america so much?
