For the past 22 years, residents of Ganesh Nagar in Mohammadwadi have been living close to posh societies and yet struggled to get a drainage line in place. The colony, housing over 200 small, independent houses, has been using a septic tank system to discard used water, posing a serious health risk for residents. To make matters worse, sewage overflows during heavy rains and streams through internal lanes of houses, to which the children are directly exposed during outdoor playing activities.

Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel attached with the
Pune railway station have been transferred to the headquarters after several complaints were received against them about harassing and extorting passengers.
The transfers were initiated by superintendent of railway police Sadanand Wapse-Patil. He alerted the GRP officer-in-charge to immediately release the personnel of their duties.
Railway authorities for years now have been receiving complaints from the passengers about harassment by GRP. Their target for most of the times has been migrant labourers, those coming from other states. These workers are mostly taken to corner spaces or aloof spots near the foot over-bridges.
