Politics revolving around Lord Ram at national level seem to have reached Pune, too. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has opposed a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator’s proposal to build a mural of Lord Ram on the 1.5-acre ground located in the

On Tuesday, the standing committee approved a budget of Rs 2 crore to create the mural on the ground developed for sports activities in ward number 39.
According to BJP’s Varsha Tapkir, the mural will be built on one side of the ground. “My aim is to get inspired from Lord Ram beyond religion. For this purpose, I have proposed the mural, and the budget for the same has also been approved,” she said.

Activists and residents however lament that the civic body should first check their previous records of failed stints and then go on to make such claims.
The PMC has prepared a detailed plan for strengthening facilities for pedestrians and cyclists to ensure that they use these two modes to commute for shorter distances.
