Guwahati, Jan 24 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that to fulfil the Prime Minister s dream for a new India and Atmanirbhar Bharat , the violent phase of terrorism had ended and a peace and development era has begun in the entire Northeastern region and Jammu and Kasmir.
Addressing a gathering in western Assam s Kokrajhar, bordering West Bengal, Shah said that with the repeal of Article 370, violence has been tamed in Jammu and Kashmir while with the historic Bodo Peace Accord the violent phase has ended in the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) comprising four districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri.

Kokrajhar: Preparations are underway ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah s visit to Kokrajhar on January 24.
The Union Home Minister would be taking part in the 1st anniversary of the signing of the BTR Peace Accord. He would also address a public gathering. Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP) LR Bishnoi has been camping in Kokrajhar to oversee the security arrangements ahead of Shah s visit.

Bodoland: Post their victory in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, the United People s Party Liberal (UPPL) has been gearing up to contest the upcoming Assam assembly polls.
BTC chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro told the media at the 52nd annual conference of Kokrajhar district unit of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), that the UPPL is ready to fight the approaching assembly elections.
Pramod-Boro led the UPPL in the recent BTC elections and formed the council in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Naba Sarania s Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), defeating Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People s Front (BPF).

KOKRAJHAR: In a goodwill gesture towards the underprivileged women vendors, especially the orange vendors on the roadside on the way to Kokrajhar, the official assistants of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC, Pramod Boro on Tuesday distributed big umbrellas to women vendors of oranges at National Highway-31, Karigaon in Kokrajhar. Each umbrella had Welcome to Kokrajhar, the City of Peace written on it.
Sources said that as many as 32 large umbrellas were distributed among orange vendors at Karigaon in the first phase. Similar distribution will be done within four days to women vendors in other areas.
