4 men attack criminal, suffers bullet injury on thigh | Pune News

Picture used for representational purpose only PUNE: A 20-year-old criminal on police records, Vighnesh Ashok Gore, suffered a bullet injury on his thigh after four men assaulted and opened fire at him on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road around Saturday midnight. Senior inspector Sardar Patil of the Kondhwa police said, “Gore, who has two body offence cases to his name on police records, told the police in his statement that he had no idea who the assailants were and why they had opened fire at him. He was discharged after treatment at the Sassoon General Hospital.” Based on Gore’s FIR lodged on Sunday morning, the police have filed a case under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, besides the relevant provisions of the Indian Arms Act. “Gore is unemployed and stays in an SRA scheme located on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road,” Patil said.

As many as 342 patients tested positive for Covid under PMC and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits. Three deaths were recorded under the civic body taking the toll of total deaths in Pune and the twin towns together to 9,011. In the civic body alone, 208 people tested positive in 24 hours, taking the tally of total cases to 1, 84,682 so far.

PUNE: The Covid vaccination drive in Maharashtra will be conducted every week at 511 vaccination centres on five fixed days - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Archana Patil, director, health services told TOI on Friday. The decision will be effective from January 25. “Since we have the required number of doses at our disposal, we can also increase the number of sessions at big hospitals and medical colleges,” Patil said. Currently, every centre can hold only one session covering 100 healthcare workers on a given day. Dr Sanjay Deshmukh, deputy director of health of the region, which includes Pune, Satara and Solapur districts said that yesterday, at least 3,533 of around 5,000 recipients were inoculated.

Nine more deaths took the city’s toll to around 9,000. The city continued to record more recoveries than fresh cases yesterday. A report released by the Pune district health officer, Bhagwan Pawar, said that 576 patients were declared cured in the city yesterday as against 568 fresh cases.
