The number of COVID recoveries surpassed the number of fresh COVID cases in the district, with 1,396 COVID recoveries seen in the district on Wednesday. With this, the cumulative total of COVID recoveries in Pune district stands at 10,61,449. Also, 11 deaths amongst COVID patients were reported on Wednesday. The district death toll now stands at 18,359. Apart from these, 1,025 fresh COVID cases were reported in the district on Wednesday. This has taken the cumulative total of COVID cases to 10,88,780 in Pune district. The number of active cases has decreased to 8,972. Out of these, 4,972 are in hospital isolation and 4,000 at home.

(Image Source: Reuters) Updated: Aug 3, 2021, 10:15 AM IST After Maharashtra reported its first Zika virus case, in a precautionary move the Centre immediately rushed a high-level team to monitor the situation and support the state government in the management of Zika cases.  The three-member Central team including a public health expert from the office of the regional director in Pune, a gynaecologist from Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, and an entomologist from the National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), ICMR, New Delhi will be looking into the matter.
