When an artist spray-painted a “Cinco De Mayo” announcement on the shuttered gates of The Phoenix, West Brighton neighbors buzzed on the future of the storefront. But Burrito Bar satisfied that curiosity by announcing this week that it would be rolling into the space for a one-day gig on Cinco De Mayo. Burrito Bars owners Kim Beckett and Andrew Greenfield will offer a pop-up restaurant at 382 Forest Avenue. For those 21-plus, eats will include $2 food specials tacos, Mexican rice balls and mini-chimichangas. A $5 menu features quesadillas plus guacamole and chips. She called out Burrito Bar to illustrate the sentiment. Over the weekend she enjoyed sipping beverages from a glass, dining with actual plate-ware and eating with metal utensils. During various, prior stages of COVID-19 precautions, she said Burrito Bar relied on disposable tableware.

Inaugural Olde Fashioned Christmas draws hundreds to downtown Ringtown

RINGTOWN — The organizer of the borough’s first Olde Fashioned Christmas event said she hopes it puts the borough on the map. “I’m hoping it will wake the town up,” said Cheri Linkchorst. “The town has a lot to offer.” Several hundred people, most of whom wore face masks, showed up on a snowy Saturday to the borough’s inaugural event, co-hosted by the Ringtown Rotary Club and Pine Hollow Soaps of Ringtown. The event kicked off Saturday with a short parade featuring fire trucks, one of which blasted Christmas music, from the Ringtown Valley Fire and Rescue Company, and Santa Claus, assisted by two people dressed as elves, driving down Main Street.
