LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (22-1) split their two matches with No. 1 USC (13-1) on Saturday at Merle Norman Stadium in Los Angeles. It was FSU’s second win over the number one ranked team in the country this season.

“I am so proud of our team and our resiliency,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “We came out this morning and didn’t play like ourselves. We were tentative and not focused on our game plans. I’m so proud of how we adjusted after a quick turnaround, especially after being down 0-2 again. We kept fighting and clawing our way to each point.”

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State cross country teams were recognized by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic Teams for the 2020 season.
Overall, there were 199 men’s teams and 233 women’s teams that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division I.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
“Our top athletes always seem to be our best students,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “I’m really proud of our young men.”
The women’s team earned its 11th-straight honor, while the men earn their first since 2018.
Redshirt sophomore Morgan Chacon had a fantastic match with a team-high 13 kills against Syracuse. She also put together 25 total attacks, four digs, and two services aces in her performance this evening.
Redshirt senior Olivia Dailey led the team in assists with 22, while also putting together seven digs. She also tied Chacon for the most service aces in the match with two total.
Senior Jasmyn Martin performed well with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. She finished the match with 21 total attacks and four digs as well.
Sophomore Jessica Nunge recorded a team-high nine digs and senior Caroline Golden was close behind with eight. Nunge also had five kills and Golden had four assists in their win against the Orange.
The Seminoles (12-5, 8-5) face the Orange (7-7, 7-7) in what are two critical matches toward trying to secure a 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament Selection Show airs Sunday at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.
Florida State is currently sixth in the competitive ACC, mostly because of its 1-3 start in the fall season that came without the services of All-American middle blocker Taryn Knuth. In the fall, FSU averaged 1.8 blocks per set while opponents averaged 1.7. In the spring, the Seminoles are averaging 2.7 blocks per set while opponents average 1.8.
FSU is 11-2 during the spring season and ranks 13th in the most recent NCAA RPI.
