March 31, 2021 ⚾: Eight-Run 7th Leads Noles Past Mercer TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (13-8) scored eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Mercer (13-11) 8-1 Wednesday night in front of 1,134 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. Right-handed pitcher Jack Anderson threw 6.2 perfect innings for the Seminoles and Elijah Cabell’s two-run, go-ahead home run in the seventh inning was his third in three games. Anderson needed just 79 pitches to record his 20 outs, with seven flyouts, seven groundouts and six strikeouts. Mercer’s Brandon Michie hit a solo home run in the seventh inning that snapped Anderson’s perfect game and broke a scoreless tie.

BOT Approves Exploration Of New Stadium Experiences

Today, FSU Athletics and Seminole Boosters received approval from the Board of Trustees (BOT) to begin conversations with our fan base regarding new conceptual experiences at Doak Campbell Stadium.  The permission given by the BOT was the first of many steps to address the preferences expressed by our ticket-holders and infrastructure needs and repairs within the stadium. The following information is based on the initial approval. More details and information will follow throughout this spring and summer. In direct response to the preferences revealed over several years of surveys of our football season tickets holders, Florida State began planning for experiential enhancements in 2019.

No 10 Softball Hosts Notre Dame for ACC Home Opener

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. The No. 10 Florida State softball team (20-6) hosts Notre Dame (17-8) for a four-game series this weekend. The Seminoles and Fighting Irish are scheduled to play one game on Friday, April 2 at 5 pm, a doubles header on Saturday, April 3 starting at 1 pm and one game on Sunday, April 4 at noon. Friday’s game is on the ACC Network while Saturday and Sunday’s games are on ACCNX. FLORIDA STATE VS. NOTRE DAME Florida State and Notre Dame have met 26 times heading into the weekend. Florida State has won 19 of the 26 meetings. Florida State is 16-5 against the Fighting Irish under head coach Lonni Alameda. The last time the two teams met was in 2019. FSU won three of the four games played that season, including a 2-0 Florida State win in the ACC Tournament semifinals. Sydney Sherrill hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.

FSU: RHP Conor Grady (3-1, 4.18 ERA) vs. UNC: RHP Max Carlson (2-1, 4.56 ERA) Left fielder Elijah Cabell was re-inserted into the Florida State lineup Saturday vs. Wake Forest and has hit a home run in each of the three games in that span. His two-run home run Wednesday vs. Mercer gave FSU a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning. The Noles went on to score eight runs in the frame and beat the Bears for the 26 th consecutive time. On the mound, Jack Anderson retired the first 20 batters of the game and had a career high 6.2 innings pitched and six strikeouts. FSU allowed just one run on three hits to the Bears.

⚾: Martin, Montgomery Lead FSU Past No 5 Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Robby Martin hit two home runs and had five RBI and freshman pitcher Carson Montgomery struck out nine batters in 4.2 innings, leading Florida State (7-6) past No. 5 Florida (13-5) 10-2 Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium. Catcher Mat Nelson added his team-high fifth home run and the FSU bullpen combined to allow just one hit in 4.1 innings of relief. The win was the second straight for FSU over a Top 5 Florida team, beating the No. 1 Gators in Gainesville 2-0 last season. It is the Seminoles first win against Florida in Tallahassee since 2015. Montgomery made his third start of the season and looked every bit the player that was the highest-rated recruit to reach campus this summer. The Windermere native struck out nine, allowed three walks and a pair of runs, both coming in his last inning of work. He exited the game one out shy of his first win as a Seminole.
