SEMINOLES ARE SEEDED FOURTH IN NCAA TOURNAMENT BRACKET

Tallahasse, Fla. – The No. 4 ranked Florida State Seminoles received the fourth bid for the NCAA Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. starting May 4. All matches will be played to decision   The Seminoles are looking to win their first national championship in program history. In 2022 the Noles lost in the championship round to Southern California 3-1.   The first match will take place on Thursday May 4 at 1:00 p.m. ET against No. 13 Florida International. Florida State is 13-3 all-time against FIU, and played them at the Seminole Beach Bash earlier this season winning 4-1.   Thursday’s matches will be live streamed on ESPNU. BEACH VOLLEYBALL HEADS TO HUNTSVILLE FOR CCSA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 4 ranked Florida State Seminoles (29-6) travel to Huntsville, Alabama to attempt their seventh straight CCSA conference championship. The conference championship is double elimination and the Seminoles come in ranked as the second seed, just behind TCU. Alexis Durish also earned All-Freshman honors prior to the championships. Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff lead the All-Academic lineup for the Seminoles.   All-Academic Paige Kalkhoff headlines the CCSA All-Academic team, winning scholar athlete of the year. Partner Maddie Anderson joins Kalkhoff on the All-Academic team. Kalkhoff has a 4.0 GPA and Anderson has a 3.94 GPA.   Alexis Durish All-Freshman Alexis is 19-1 when playing with Makenna Wolfe on court five. Wolfe and Durish also earned Pair of the Week honors after posting a 5-0 record at the March to May Tournament. Two-Time Olympian Nick Lucena Named Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach

Tallahassee, Fla. – After a successful season as the volunteer assistant coach, Nick Lucena has been named Florida State Beach Volleyball’s assistant coach. The Florida State alum helped the Seminoles reach the national championship match for the third time in school history and earn their sixth-straight CCSA Conference Championship. In partnership with head coach Brooke Niles and assistant Summer Nash, Lucena led the team to a 33-11 record including 24 ranked wins, 13 of which were against top-10 teams. In the final AVCA poll, the Seminoles earned their highest ranking of the season at the No. 2 spot. Beyond coaching, Lucena has a professional career worth bragging about. Lucena has competed in the Olympics twice, most recently at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo as well as a fifth-place finish at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Lucena competed with partner Phil Dalhausser in both Olympic runs. In 2016, the pair qualified as third seeds and went undefeated in pool play before being eliminated

Florida State Beach Volleyball Adds Transfer Paige Kalkhoff

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Florida State beach volleyball announced the addition of transfer Paige Kalhkoff from FIU. In her two seasons at FIU Kalhkoff went 49-13. In 2022 she finished the season with a 24-8 record with all of her wins on court one. She earned wins over No. 4 LMU, No. 5 LSU, No. 10 FIU and two wins over No. 19 Stetson. Kalhkoff was named First Team All-Conference USA and an AVCA Second Team All-American. During her first season at FIU, she went 25-5 with a 13-0 record on court four, 7-2 on court three and a 5-1 on court two. She earned ranked wins over No. 3 Florida State, No. 11 Stetson, No. 12 FAU, No. 14 South Carolina and No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast. She was named to the CCSA All-Freshman Team. Kalhkoff will join a Seminole team that finished as national runners-up. Florida State finished the 2022 season with a 33-1 record. The Noles also won their sixth straight CCSA Championship. Madison Fitzpatrick Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Tallahassee, Fla. – Madison Fitzpatrick was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team Thursday. The Senior was named the CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year earlier this season. Fitzpatrick is the third Seminole to earn CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, following Molly McBain in 2021 and Macy Jerger in 2017-19. Fitzpatrick has a 3.977 GPA while pursuing her master’s degree in Media Communication Studies. She was 32-9 this season with 21 wins on court two and 11 wins on court three. She ranks in a tie for 15th at FSU in all-time wins with 90 and ranks third all-time in wins as a pair with Alaina Chacon (58 wins). Fitzpatrick was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team earlier this month as she went 6-1 at the NCAA Tournament with Chacon. The two helped lead the Seminoles to a national runner-up finish.
