Volleyball Continues ACC Play with Road Matches at Virginia and No 8 Pitt

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team (12-5, 4-2) will look to add to its three-game winning streak this weekend with a couple of ACC road matches at Virginia (8-9, 0-6) and at No. 8 Pitt (16-2, 6-0). Friday's match against the Cavaliers will begin at 6 p.m. with Sunday's showdown with the Panthers beginning at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ACC Network Extra. NOLE NOTES Head Coach Chris Poole is in his 15th season as the leader of the Seminoles. Poole is the second-winningest active head coach in Division I with 888 victories. Poole will be looking for his 32nd victory over an AVCA top 25 team at Florida State. A win over No. 8 Pitt would be Florida State’s first win over an ACC opponent that was ranked inside the top 10 in the AVCA top 25. Volleyball Opens ACC Play with Notre Dame and No 2 Louisville

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State volleyball team begins ACC play this week with matches against Notre Dame and No. 2 Louisville at Tully Gym. Friday's match with the Fighting Irish will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ACCNX. Sunday's match with the second-ranked Cardinals can be seen nationally on ESPN with first serve at 3 p.m. Admission to all home games is free and doors will open one hour before the match. During Friday's match, there will be a prize giveaway for Family Weekend. Spotlight Noles The Seminoles will be a part of history on Sunday afternoon, as their matchup with No. 2 Louisville will be the second regular season women’s college volleyball game to every appear on ESPN. ESPN broadcasted last week’s matchup with Louisville and Kentucky that drew 302,000 viewers, the most for any regular season volleyball match on the ESPN Networks. Seminoles Earn the Sweep Against Syracuse

Redshirt sophomore Morgan Chacon had a fantastic match with a team-high 13 kills against Syracuse. She also put together 25 total attacks, four digs, and two services aces in her performance this evening. Redshirt senior Olivia Dailey led the team in assists with 22, while also putting together seven digs. She also tied Chacon for the most service aces in the match with two total. Senior Jasmyn Martin performed well with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. She finished the match with 21 total attacks and four digs as well. Sophomore Jessica Nunge recorded a team-high nine digs and senior Caroline Golden was close behind with eight. Nunge also had five kills and Golden had four assists in their win against the Orange.

Syracuse s offense stalls in straight-set loss to Florida State

Subscribe to our sports newsletter here Coming off a 3-2 win over Duke on Sunday, Syracuse looked to take the first game in its two-game series against Florida State. But, the Orange fell short, in a three-set loss to the Seminoles. In the first set, Syracuse strung together three multi-point runs behind two kills each from middle blocker Abby Casiano and outside hitter Ella Saada. Yet, after tying the set at 10 points on a kill from outside hitter Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk, the Seminoles exploded with a 5-0 run behind two kills from outside hitter Jasmyn Martin. Florida State used two 3-0 runs to win the first set, 25-16, as the Orange failed to regain momentum.
