RANCHI: The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)’s decision to shut down “Dawaai Dost”, a generic medicine store which used to provide medicines at subsidized rates, is likely to push up the medical expenses of poor .patients visiting the hospital by nearly four times.
The move comes in the wake of a 2015 decision made by governing body of RIMS in which it was decided that the hospital would invite an open tender after its agreement ends with Dawaai Dost. However, as no tenders were invited after 2015 and after Jharkhand High Court summoned the RIMS administration over the issue, it directed the store to down shutters within a month.

RANCHI: The 45-year-old mucormycosis patient, Usha Devi, who was operated at Rims on July 8 after the intervention of the Jharkhand high court, passed away on Sunday morning. After the news of Devi’s death broke, her relatives alleged negligence on the part of the hospital authorities, complaining that she had to wait for more than 50 days for her surgery.
Devi’s son, Gaurav Gupta, has demanded an enquiry alleging that his mother would have been alive had the surgery been conducted earlier. Gaurav has filed a police complaint at Bariatu police station demanding action against 11 doctors, including Rims director Dr Kameshwar Prasad and medical superintendent Dr Vivek Kashyap, for ‘medical negligence’.

New Delhi, June 3 : Delhi Police has arrested three cyber criminals and a juvenile from Bihar s Nalanda and Sheikhpura districts, for cheating people in the pretext of providing oxygen cylinders amid the second wave of the Covid pandemic.
